A "3 Zs" sleeping pill was a piece of evidence in Phoenix Wright's investigation into the murder of Jack Shipley.

A few days before the anniversary of Azura Summers's death, Dr. Herman Crab purchased a supply of "3 Zs" sleeping pills from the Hickfield Clinic. If it came to it, he would feed pills to the orca Orla Shipley to make it appear as if he had euthanized her, only for him to then secretly release her back into the wild. Later, Jack Shipley was accidentally killed during an altercation with Marlon Rimes, who was trying to kill Orla. The orca was subsequently accused of the accidental killing, but Sasha Buckler was able to secure a trial for her, with Wright as her defense attorney.
Rimes, trying one final time to kill Orla, stole some of the sleeping pills and mixed them inside some fish. Orla's trial ended in a not guilty verdict, and Rimes "rewarded" her with the drug-laced fish, but Buckler was subsequently arrested for the crime instead. Orla later almost drowned due to the pills, but Wright saw what was happening and helped Dr. Crab save her in time. She vomited out the food, and Wright found an undigested pill. He gave the pill to Apollo Justice, who learned from Dr. Hickfield about Dr. Crab's purchases and Summers's heart condition.
Wright was led to believe that Dr. Crab had attempted to drown Orla. However, the doctor's furious and disgusted reaction to this accusation during Buckler's trial was enough to cause him to reconsider his case. Thinking about who had fed Orla during the trial, he narrowed the suspects down to Rimes.
Name[]
- The brand name for the sleeping drug is the same as the Sedative used in Turnabout for the Ages, "3 Zs", or in Japanese, "Suyamin 3Z". The only difference is that the "Sedative" is in liquid form.
