Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in Central and South Asia. It shares a border with Pakistan to the southeast (a former British colony), China to the northeast, former empire of Russia to the north, and Iran to the west.
During the 19th century, Afghanistan was central to the Great Game, where the Russian empire in Tartary and the British empire in India competed.
Revolutionary abroad[]
The Russian revolutionary Vilen Borshevik was reported to have taken part in a destructive war in Afghanistan prior to Ryunosuke Naruhodo's voyage to England.
John's tour[]
John Wilson served in the country, and Herlock Sholmes correctly guesses so after meeting him and shaking hands. When Sholmes first met Naruhodo, he immediately implied that Naruhodo too had come from Afghanistan.
