Status Active

A bar association is a professional body of lawyers responsible for the regulation of the legal profession in their jurisdiction, or for acting as professional organizations dedicated to serving their members, in many cases being both. One of the tasks of the bar association is to punish lawyers acting illegally by disbarring them from practicing law. Such was the case with Phoenix Wright. The association has ties to the Prosecutorial Investigation Committee.

Wright's hearing

Main article: Turnabout Succession

During the trial of Zak Gramarye, Phoenix Wright was tricked into presenting fraudulent evidence. Some time afterward, Wright was put before a hearing with the bar association review board. A vote was cast for his disbarment and came back almost unanimous in favor of doing so with only one member of the board against it. Wright was thus disbarred from law.

The disgraced lawyer went on to work as a pianist and poker player at the Borscht Bowl Club. He maintained a suspicious friendship with Kristoph Gavin, the only one on his side during his hearing. This suspicion later proved to be well-founded since Gavin turned out to have been the one who planted the fraudulent evidence on him that had cost him his career. Gavin had done so in order to get revenge against Wright for being accepted as Gramarye's defense after the latter had rejected him.
