Shelly de Killer's calling card (also referred to as a "picture card") was a piece of evidence in Phoenix Wright's investigation into the murder of Juan Corrida. It later reappeared during Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Bastian Rook.
De Killer leaves a calling card with a pink seashell design at the site of his crimes. The card serves a double purpose: it allows the police to quickly identify who committed the deed, and it serves as a form of insurance to throw suspicion off of de Killer's clients. In order to avoid potential copycats surfacing, the card's design and purpose are classified as top secret information by the police.
Corrida's murder[]
When de Killer murdered Juan Corrida, he left a calling card near his corpse. Adrian Andrews, the first person to discover the body, noticed the card and took it into her possession, unaware of its significance. She would later absentmindedly fiddle with it whenever she was thinking, until Miles Edgeworth recognized the card and took it as evidence.
De Killer also left one of his calling cards in Engarde Mansion's wine cellar, where he was holding Maya Fey hostage. Using the card, Fey unlocked the door of the cellar and tried to escape, but was forced back into the wine cellar by de Killer. To keep her mind off her dire situation, Fey drew a picture of her friend Phoenix Wright on the calling card, using its design as a base to draw Wright's profile.
This card was retrieved as one of the items de Killer lost in his hasty escape from the police, only for Detective Dick Gumshoe to lose it in turn. It was eventually recovered by Franziska von Karma during her flight to Germany; noticing the drawing of Wright on the card, she swore to meet and face off against him again, and decided to hold onto the card until then.
The assassination attempt and Rook's murder[]
After de Killer made his escape from the presidential plane, he left the card near Edgeworth. He later handed it, along with the other evidence, to Bronco Knight temporarily, as President Wang meant for the Zheng Fa police to take over the investigation. However, after Edgeworth negotiated with Wang to return investigative authority to him, Knight returned it along with the remaining evidence. After Knight's arrest, Edgeworth used it to prove that the case wasn't over yet, as de Killer had not carried out his assassination attempt.
