A ceramic fragment was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Artie Frost.
Carmelo Gusto's poisoning[]
After buying Samson Tangaroa's mansion from his relatives, Judy Bound discovered that Artie Frost's body was in the Gemini sculpture he himself had made. Deciding to set a trap for the culprit of the IS-7 Incident, she took some Ubiquium and hid it in a teapot. Unbeknownst to her, Larry Butz attempted to pour tea for Verity Gavèlle and accidentally dropped the teapot without the Ubiquium in it, breaking it. He then switched the teapot with the one with Ubiquium inside in order to disguise the fact that he'd broken one of her favorite teapots.
Later, Edgeworth found the shard in a puddle of tea. He later showed it to Butz to get him to talk about what he was hiding. This allowed him to discover that Butz had accidentally broken the teapot. Bound later took the shard from Edgeworth.
