A chisel was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Bronco Knight.

Knight's murder[]

Main article: The Captive Turnabout

Prior to Knight's murder, Simeon Saint planted the chisel in Knight's pocket Pocket Chess Set in order to make Fifi Laguarde kill Knight. As expected, Laguarde searched the chess set and found the chisel, causing her to stab Knight with Bodhidharma Kanis's knife. She then removed the knife, untied the bell on it, tied it to the chisel, and then stabbed it into the exact same spot on Knight's neck. Afterwards, she had his body transported through the well and sent to Kanis. Upon hearing the bell, Kanis assumed it was his knife, but discovered that it was the chisel. He then had his dog, Helmut, hide the chisel in his mouth.

Edgeworth eventually figured out where the chisel had been hidden. A test proved that there was blood on it. Later, however, it was revealed to be a fake murder weapon that had blood planted on it to make it seem like the real one in order to put suspicion on Kanis.

Laguarde's trial[]

Some time after Laguarde's arrest, the chisel was naively given to Excelsius Winner by his son Eustace. Wanting to protect Laguarde, Excelsius disposed of the chisel and knife. Although the chisel would not be found at the time, the bell tied to it was fortunately found by Eustace after hours of rummaging in the garbage of the local dump. Although the bell was useless by itself, Edgeworth and Eustace later used the newspaper wrapped around it to prove that Excelsius had thrown the evidence away, as his gloves had left traces on the paper.
