The term "Chords of Steel" refers to two similar concepts: Apollo Justice's over-the-top loud voice when he shouts, and the voice training that he does to achieve and maintain said voice.
The workout[]
In essence, the workout consists of Justice shouting a phrase very loudly. One common phrase that he uses for this purpose is "I'm fine!" The workout helps him relieve stress, and he considers it a must before every trial. He typically does the workout early in the morning before heading to the District Court. He tends to overdo the workout, making his voice raspy. When Athena Cykes joined the Wright Anything Agency, the workout was taught to her.
The workout originates in middle school, when Justice would practice with his friend Clay Terran.
The voice[]
The results of Justice's training typically show up in court, when he shouts emphatically phrases such as "Objection!" However, occasionally he loses control of his voice when he is exasperated, spooking people such as Jinxie Tenma and having to be told to turn it down. Robin Newman has been known to have an even louder voice than Justice, however.
