On September 10, 2011, a man by the name of Mack Rell was put on trial for the murder of Deid Mann. However, during the trial he declared that the prosecutor for the case, Byrne Faraday, was actually the infamous thief Yatagarasu and had ordered him to kill Mann. During the subsequent recess, both Rell and Faraday were found dead in Defendant Lobby No. 2. Miles Edgeworth, who was due to take over the role of prosecutor for the trial from Faraday, investigated the case and eventually discovered that the culprit for the double murder was actually Rell's defense attorney, Calisto Yew. Yew managed to escape however, and it would not be until seven years later that she would be caught and brought to justice.
