Smith's murder[]
- Main article: Turnabout Trump
Winston Payne presented the photo after Apollo Justice's objection to Olga Orly's claim that the victim was strangled, proving that Smith had been hit on the head. It was then added to the court record. This caused Orly to claim that Wright had tried strangling him first before hitting him. Justice then used it to show that there was no locket on Smith's neck. This led to the conclusion that the locket had been removed from his neck, which meant that when Orly claimed she saw Wright strangle Smith, Wright had in fact been removing his locket.
