A crime scene photograph was evidence in the trial of Magnus McGilded for the murder of Mason Milverton. It showed the victim in the position he was found in while stabbed.

Substitute for optional dialogue?[]
The photograph itself ends up having no direct impact on the proceedings. The fact that the hat obscures his face from view becomes a significant factor in sowing doubt as to what the witnesses had actually seen, but the element used to point this out is a quote from Bruce Fairplay: "The two of them were wearing hats and I couldn't exactly make out their faces." Peculiarly, this is an optional line triggered by pressing the second statement of the first testimony.
Hat Hunter[]
The third statement of the final testimony has Fairplay claiming that neither he nor Lay D. Furst has any connection to the victim. Pressing this statement leads to the only optional witness reaction in The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures, which, when pursued, leads to the "Hat Hunter" achievement in the Chronicles versions of the game. In the ensuing dialogue, McGilded points out Fairplay's debt to him, providing a motive for Fairplay to frame McGilded for a capital crime. In addition to this, he identifies the hat in the photograph as having the same design as Furst's hat, showing that the victim had been one of his customers. This exchange shows that McGilded had done his research and was probably fully prepared to advocate for himself, if not for Ryunosuke Naruhodo's sudden arrival.
