Teikun Ō

P-Please wait. I am just about to meet my son for the first time. I'm sure this will be the first and the last time. Please, at least wait until we are finished...

Teikun Ō was a respected president of Zheng Fa for sometime up until February 2007. He was a great president that placed a great amount of trust into the House of Lang, that which Shi-Long Lang and his father Dai-Long Lang are members of.

Assassination

Due to the hazards of his job as the president of Zheng Fa, Teikun Ō hired a look-alike. However, having to put up with the dangerous nature of being the president with none of the perks caused Ō's body double to develop a growing resentment towards his employer.

During his travels abroad, Teikun Ō met Zheng Fa diplomat Ami Aizawa and the two began a romantic relationship. In 2007, Ō received a message from Aizawa asking him to come see her at the Happy Family Home orphanage where she worked, as she now had a son who had been fathered by Ō. On February 10, 2007, Ō arrived at the orphanage only to find a strange bald man and a large black dog waiting for him. Ō soon realised that his man was an assassin sent to murder him, and asked him to be allowed to at least see his son before he died. The assassin refused and attacked. Although the first strike missed its target, Ō soon lay dead on the snow.

Unbeknownst to Ō, the one who had sent the assassin was his own body double, who was resentful of having to put his life on the line everyday without having the power and respect of being the real Teikun Ō. The body double had thus resolved to have his employer assassinated and then assume his identity. With the help of corrupt Chief Prosecutor Bansai Ichiyanagi and Happy Family Home orphanage owner Marī Miwa, the body double put his plot into motion. Knowing that Ō would be visiting the Happy Family Home orphanage in order to visit Aizawa, the conspirators hired the deadly blind assassin Ryōken Hōinbō and sent him to murder the president. After Ō was dead, the body double began his new life as the deceased man. Additionally, the three conspirators put a ransom out for O of $100,000,000. The sum was successfully paid, and to the rest of the world, it appeared that the real O had returned, but it had in fact been the body double who returned. The body of the president was then buried in the flowerbeds of the Happy Family Home (which would later become the Big Tower).

Imposter's Reign

After O's death, the imposter continued to act as the president of Zheng Fa. As Shi-Long Lang tells

Edgeworth, the imposter seperated himself from and cut his ties with the House of Lang, which bewildered the Lang clan (as they did not know the "president"'s true nature). However, the imposter was absolutely inferior a leader of the nation as the original; in fact, by 2019, his approval ratings (perhaps due to the president's poor handling of the international smuggling ring and the counterfeit bills produced that shattered it's economy) had sunk to all-time lows at abyssmal levels, so much so that he unsuccessfully tried to stage an assassination attempt. In fact, when Miles Edgeworth exposed his attempt, the body double screamed out all the air inside of him revealing him to be a gluttonous and chubby man.

Resolution

Since the body double had assumed the life of Teikun Ō, the authorities never knew that he had been murdered.

On April 4th, 2019, the body double's fallen and crushed corpse had been discovered in the Big Tower filming lot. Miles Edgeworth investigated the case, and eventually, Edgeworth noticed a glaring contradiction -- the descriptions Shi-Long Lang gave of Teikun O (presenting him as an honorable and great leader) compared to the dishonest and dishonorable Teikun O he past encountered was unambiguously odd. This contradiction, after an investigation into the SS-5 Incident using Kay Faraday's Little Thief, was able to let Edgeworth deduce that the president whom he encountered and discovered dead was the body double, whilst the real president had been killed 12 years priorin the SS-5 Incident, and that his body was buried in the three flowerbeds (now monster-like footprints).

After Edgeworth's deduction, the flowerbeds were dug up, and traces of a body's burial were found; a follow-up investigation into the home of Bansai Ichiyanagi found the president's skeletal remains (perfectly matching his dental records) there. Bansai had unearthed the buried remains from the flowebeds, because the filming lot had been looking to undergo reconstruction, which would cause the president's body to be potentially found and subsequently risk Bansai and his co-conspirators being exposed.

Edgeworth was later able to confront the body double's killer and arrest him, finally bringing O's case to an end.

Personality

According to Shi-Long Lang, Teikun Ō was a respected and very competent man who led Zheng Fa well, and had very strong ties to the House of Lang. He also, as Ryoken stated, was not the sort of man to plead for his life; rather, he pleaded to see his son one first and last time instead.

His body double, on the other hand, had been a coward who was of no such nature.

Name

• His Japanese surname "Ō" (王) means "king", while his given name consists of the kanji for "emperor" (帝) and "monarch" (君); fitting considering his position as leader of a country.

• His name also fits with the chess theme of characters in the game; he is the king piece, while Manosuke Naitō is the knight and Gai Tojiro the rook.

• Teikun Ō's English name in the fan translation of Gyakuten Kenji 2 is "Di-Jun Huang". Like Shi-Long Lang's name, this is simply the Chinese reading of his original name's kanji.
• Wang (王) is one of the most common surnames in the Chinese speaking world in real life, being the foremost common in mainland China. The Chinese surname typically associated with the Romanization of Huang is 黃, meaning "yellow", and is also a common surname.
