One year ago, Elyder Meningen showed up to Drebber’s workshop. Known as an investor to the public, Meningen got to be leader of a criminal organization via the many connections he made as a journalist over the years. He himself didn’t actually remember Drebber as a subject of his article, and instead came to him as a creator and “swindler”. He had just approached a young scientist by the name of [[Benjamin Dobinbough]] about his theory on teleportation, and wanted Drebber to build a machine for him with the goal of getting money from the government. Unknown to him, Drebber noticed an article in the newspaper Elyder was holding about the creation of a new forensic investigation unit, with coroner Courtney Sithe at the head. Drebber decided to recruit Sithe and kill Elyder Meningen.

Enoch Drebber built a teleportation machine for Benjamin Dobinbough that was designed like a magic trick. There was a trick floor that connected to a shaft in the platform through which the experimentee would fall. Then, from a balloon hanging above the test site, a second cage would fall to the Crystal Tower, setting up the illusion that a teleportation actually happened. In this first cage would be the real Elyder Meningen; in the second would be a wax figure of the Professor, stolen from [[Connette Rozaic]]'s museum by Drebber a few days previously. Drebber chose this particular wax model to coerce Sithe into going along with his plan. She would find the wax model in the cage that fell through the Crystal Tower, along with a letter from someone who “knows the truth about 10 years ago.” Using the instructions in the letter, she set up the crime scene so that it appeared that teleportation actually occurred so they can frame Dobinbough.

Though because Courtney was being blackmailed by Elyder, she didn’t need much coercion; she worked with the forensics unit to set up the crime scene as detailed by the letter, but on her own head to the underside of the machine and into the shaft. Just as Meningen was getting out of the cage, she stabbed him with Dobinbough's screwdriver, getting her own revenge. Stabbing the man while standing up caused his blood to trickle downwards, which would be her downfall. She would later claim that the fall killed Meningen, and that she simply stabbed a dead body.

Having approached young scientist Benjamin Dobinbough about his theory on teleportation, Meningen wanted Drebber to build a machine for him with the goal of getting money from the government. Unknown to him, Drebber noticed an article in the newspaper Meningen was holding about the creation of a new forensic investigation unit, with coroner Courtney Sithe at the head.

Enoch Drebber built a teleportation machine for Benjamin Dobinbough that was designed like a magic trick. In this first cage would be the real Elyder Meningen; in the second would be a wax figure of the Professor, stolen from Connette Rozaic's museum by Drebber a few days previously. Sithe would find the wax model in the cage that fell through the Crystal Tower, along with a letter from someone who “knows the truth about 10 years ago.” Using the instructions in the letter, she set up the crime scene so that it appeared that teleportation actually occurred so they can frame Dobinbough. A month before his death, Elyder Meningen was the defendant in a trial prosecuted by Death Bringer Barok van Zieks. He got acquitted by using his crime syndicate to bribe the jury.

Dead Meningen

Since Courtney Sithe was being blackmailed by Meningen, she didn’t need much coercion; she worked with the forensics unit to set up the crime scene as detailed by the letter, but on her own head to the underside of the machine and into the shaft. Just as Meningen was getting out of the cage, she stabbed him with Dobinbough's screwdriver, getting her own revenge. Stabbing the man while standing up caused his blood to trickle downwards.

Benjamin Dobinbough was successfully arrested for the murder of Elyder Meningen. Fortunately, Ryūnosuke Naruhodō managed to expose both Courtney Sithe and Enoch Drebber as the masterminds of the killing conspiracy, and ultimately proved that Sithe was not just Drebber's accomplice, but the true killer. Before the trial, some thugs of the criminal organization Meningen headed blamed Barok for his death and attacked him with guns.
