A fishing pole was a piece of evidence in Phoenix Wright's investigation into the murder of Robert Hammond. It is one of Dick Gumshoe's Seven Secret Weapons.
Robert Hammond's murder[]
While searching for Gourdy to be able to give information on it to Lotta Hart, Detective Gumshoe offered the fishing pole to Wright to help him. However, due to bait not being present, it couldn't be used. Despite this, Wright tried, causing Maya to slip and trigger Lotta Hart's camera.
Bronco Knight's murder[]
When Miles Edgeworth was searching for the route used to smuggle Bronco Knight's body, Detective Gumshoe offered the fishing pole along with Missile and his metal detector. However, it would prove useless, as when Gumshoe attempted to use it on the pond in the courtyard, it broke for an unknown reason (implied to be Ally the alligator). Although the metal detector would prove to be just as useless, Missile eventually helped find the tunnel used to smuggle the body.
