Forums: Index > Watercooler > Idea for character infoboxes

Hey, guys. First of all, happy Easter. Second, I was wondering what you think of adding a tabber to character infoboxes so viewers can toggle between portraits of the character as they looked at different points in time? You can see a (still incomplete) example of what it might look like here. Of course, it might require a few tweaks to the template (which I'll admit I'm rather shy about doing) to remove the "[[File:...|192px]]" text around the image, and I still need to figure out how to make the most recent image (on the right) the default one. We might also need to standardize the portrait proportions (maybe 2x3 or 3x4) to ensure the infobox doesn't change size when you toggle.

Naturally, we wouldn't need multiple portraits if the character's appearance didn't change (so we'd have only four portraits of Phoenix, as shown in my sandbox, rather than one for each game). We would, however, include portraits of the younger selves of characters like Athena, Vera Misham and Trucy Wright, since they have official art that can be cropped, as well as alternate outfits for characters like Apollo and Juniper Woods.

I don't want to add anything superfluous to the wiki, but I've seen this on other wikis and thought it would be neat here too. One concern I have is that it might seem too out-of-universe, but I've tried to fix that by putting years in the tab names rather than game names. So do any of you like the idea or think it would be worth implementing?

It's definitely something worth looking into. I have toyed with the idea in the past, but couldn't personally figure out how to do it. An additional idea I had was to have the contents of the infobox change when a different tab is selected, which is something I've seen on other wikis, including the Final Fantasy one (example).
