Fountain spouts were a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murders of Manny Coachen and Ka-Shi Nou. The fountain spouts were originally installed into the Cohdopian Embassy when it was first built. They were specifically designed to refill the rose garden pool whenever its water level became too low, making it an ideal water source for firefighters. A pipe was also built between the pool and the open-air stage on the other side, allowing them to extinguish fires on either side of the embassy.

In March 2019, Quercus Alba murdered Manny Coachen and hid his body and the murder weapon in a pushcart. In order to move it from the Allebahstian side of the embassy to the Babahlese side, his accomplice, Interpol agent Shih-na, set several fires on the Babahlese side of the embassy. Shih-na then went into the pool with the pushcart. As the water drained from the firefighting effort, she was able to walk across to the Babahlese side of the pool. Afterwards, the fountain spouts turned on, pulling Shih-na and the pushcart upward and allowing them to leave the pool.
