Gatewater Hotel is an expensive businessperson's hotel in Los Angeles. It is opposite the Wright Anything Agency, such that the inside of the Agency can be seen from the windows of some hotel rooms, which allowed April May to witness Mia Fey's murder from her suite. After the murder case, the bellboy who had testified during the trial took over management of the hotel; strangely enough, however, he had since delivered room service to Edgeworth's office regularly and played the role of the Proto Badger in Gatewater Land.

There is also a "Gatewater Imperial Hotel" near the center of L.A., which was the scene of the murder of Juan Corrida.

Name

The name is a reference to the Watergate complex and scandal.
