Genshin Asōgi was a Japanese exchange student along with Yūjin Mikotoba and Seishirou Jigoku 10 years before Ryūnosuke Naruhodō's arrival in London.

During Genshin's time in London, Hart Vortex pinned the murders by the Professor on Genshin after Genshin found out Vortex was blackmailing Klimt van Zieks due to Zieks's murders. Vortex made a deal with Genshin: if the latter took the blame for the serial killings, his execution would be faked, and he would be buried alive. Subsequently, Vortex and Seishirou Jigoku would unearth him, and he could go home to his son. Afterwards, Genshin was found guilty of the murders and was sentenced to death. The coroner who examined his body, Courtney Sithe, declared him dead, and he was buried.
Betrayal and Murder
Vortex kept his end of the bargain, and went to unearth Genshin alongside Jigoku. After doing so, Genshin rose from his coffin, only for a witness to see what seemed to be a dead man rising from the grave. He fled in terror, and Vortex realized his plan was ruined. He gave Jigoku a gun, and ordered him to kill Genshin. Jigoku reluctantly obliged, and murdered Genshin. Vortex and Jigoku then reburied the body, and went on their ways.
Name
- Shares the character “truth” (真) with his son. The character gen (玄) can mean “dark”, or “unclear”, so perhaps his name points to the “unclear truth”, as opposed to Kazuma’s “one truth”.
