The ground floor of Garrideb house was the abode of William Shamspeare.
A plot for treasure[]
- Main article: The Memoirs of the Clouded Kokoro
When William Shamspeare was let out of prison, he came to the Garrideb complex to live in the flat on the second floor. That's because it originally belonged to Selden, one of England's most notorious criminals, who promised Shamspeare a valuable treasure which he hid in there. However, the second flat was already occupied by a young man named Duncan Ross, so Shamspeare was forced to live in the flat right below it. That was when he came up with a plan to get rid of Ross.
The gas pressure in the poor complex's pipes isn't strong, so if someone blows hard inside them, they'll temporarily stop the gas supply to all the connected gas pipes. If a gas light on at that moment, the fire will go out as the gas supply is stopped. But once someone stops blowing, the gas pressure will return and gas will start going through the pipes again. So William Shamspeare decided to blow in the gas pipe on the first floor to scare Ross away from the second floor. Unfortunately, since there wasn't any fire, the gas just poured inside the room instead of being lit. So Duncan Ross died of asphyxiation, which caused an investigation and Shamspeare was unable to search the flat.
