She became best friends with Susato Mikotoba and the assistant of her father, Yūjin. In the Autumn of 1899, Dr. Watson was killed by fellow British Jezail Brett, but the English government told Japan to send her to Shanghai, China so she could stand trial in the consular courts within nine months. The day before this were to happen, Murasame noticed a poison missing from the lab. Brett then requested that she could spend her last moments of Japan on one of the beaches, Murasame decided to join her with Satoru Hosonaga, Sōseki Natsume, and Heita Mamemomi.

While they were there, Murasame walked into the reed hut Brett was in and accused her of stealing the poison. It was actually in her stomach due to Mamemomi, who was behind the hut and stabbed Brett in the back with a knife. Murasame tried to pull the knife out with of Brett's body, when Hosonaga and Natsume came in and took her in.

Murasame had no one to defend her, so Susato Mikotoba disguised herself as a man and acted as her defense attorney, women weren't allowed to be those at the time. Heita Mamemomi tried hard to frame Murasame for Brett's murder, including sending a photograph of Murasame holding the knife to prosecutor Taketsuchi Auchi. Yet Susato was able to expose Mamemoni and clear Murasame's name, who joined her in performing "Ryūtarō Toss" on Mamemoni.
