Personality
Dr. Crabs is somewhat aloof and introverted, and spends almost all his time in his laboratory. He is shown to care about people and animals that are close to him. He often thinks people are trying to pick fights with him, often over simple misunderstandings. He does not like to pick sides in arguments, helping both the defense and the prosecution equally. However, his main concern is the truth, as seen at the end of the Orla Shipley case, when he gives Phoenix a hint about there being two killer whales, securing the victory and saving both Sasha and Orla.

- "Su" (巣) means "nest" and "gomori" comes from "komori" (子守), which means "to babysit".
- "Gaku" means "to learn".
- His English name "Herman Crab" is a play on the crustacean "Hermit Crab", possibly due to Dr. Crab living at the Aquarium in his laboratory.

- The bird mask Herman wears is possibly a reference to the masks medival doctors would wear during the Black Death

- When Dr. Crab is explaining about the TORPEDO's full name, Phoenix wonders if it might be "super admin restricted desktop access password-protected". This is a reference to what has become a rather famous moment in Recipe for Turnabout, in which presenting unrelated evidence to Lisa Basil prompts her to state that the information is "SPARDA", prompting a reference to the movie "300" by Maya and Phoenix.
