"Illegality of Fate" is a music track from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice which occasionally plays during particularly tense or suspenseful moments.
In Dual Destinies, the track first plays when Simon Blackquill breaks free of his shackles in The Monstrous Turnabout. It later plays in The Cosmic Turnabout when Ted Tonate announces that a bomb is about to explode in the courtroom; at the end of the same episode, when Simon announces that Athena Cykes' fingerprints are on the lighter believed to belong to Clay Terran's killer; and in Turnabout for Tomorrow, when Aura Blackquill takes Trucy Wright and several other people hostage at the Cosmos Space Center. It also plays in the special episode, Turnabout Reclaimed, when Simon orders Sasha Buckler to be placed under arrest for the murder of Jack Shipley following Orla Shipley's acquittal.
The opening theme of The Cosmic Turnabout has a similar motif to this track.
In Spirit of Justice, the track plays at various points throughout Turnabout Revolution. It first plays when Apollo Justice is drowning in the cavern. It next plays when Ga'ran Sigatar Khura'in's guards find Inga Karkhuul Khura'in dead, next when Wright learns that Justice and Cykes are running away from Ga'ran's guards from Ahlbi Ur'gaid, and it continues to play when perspective switches to them. Next, it plays when Ga'ran orders her guards to do a strip search of Justice's person. It next plays in court after Amara Sigatar Khura'in is shot in the stomach during the trial. Lastly, it plays when Ga'ran's guards apprehend Phoenix Wright, Apollo, and Nahyuta Sahdmadhi.
