Labyrinthia is a city in a separate reality from that of the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney game series. It is ruled by the Story Teller and is being terrorised by witches when Phoenix Wright, Hershel Layton, Maya Fey and Luke Triton arrive from their own realities.

Name

The city's name is likely derived from the Labyrinth of Greek mythology. The Labyrinth was supposedly an elaborate maze-like structure so cunningly designed that even its creator had difficulty escaping from it. Its function was to hold the Minotaur, a creature part man and part bull that was eventually killed by the Athenian hero Theseus. The name insinuates that the city is maze-like, with a threat at the center.
