Lance Amano was the son of Ernest Amano and the victim of an apparent kidnapping.
"Kidnap" victim

Although Lance came from a well-off family, he still spent more than he should have and incurred a large debt with Tender Lender, a loan company. To solve his money problems, he planned a fake kidnapping of himself for his father's money along with his girlfriend Lauren Paups and his butler Oliver Deacon. They arranged for Miles Edgeworth, a family friend, to deliver a $1 million ransom to the haunted house in Gatewater Land, and they disguised themselves in Badger costumes, Deacon in the Bad Badger, Paups in the Blue Badger and Lance in the Proto Badger. However, Deacon suddenly attacked Lance with a gun, forcing Lance to shoot him dead.
Lance changed his plan. As Edgeworth was leaving the house, Lance knocked him unconscious with a prop sword. He then took Edgeworth to the Wild, Wild West area of the park, where he placed a Bad Badger head over Edgeworth's head. When Paups caught up with Lance, he fooled her into believing that he had caught Deacon, who was trying to betray them.
He was eventually figured out by Edgworth and was taken away after being named as Oliver Deacon's killer.
Tender Lender
Having stocked up a high debt for a loan shark company Tender Lender,Lance got in trouble with Viola Cadaverini.Having to get a sum of a million dollars,he involved Lauren Paups,"Oliver Deacon",and Ernest Amano(though he didn't know of the plan.),he created a fake kidnapping plan. The plan leads to murder and Lance hid evidence the crime scene was the haunted house so he disguised himself as Oliver Deacon and tried to kill Lauren with a fake gun at the stadium. Lauren "shot" him,making it look like Oliver is killed at the stadium by Lauren Paups. After that, he knocks out Edgeworth, leading to the beginning of the case.By the end of the case, the handcuffs Lance are wearing break apart and Lance starting crying. Agent Lang pointed it out that Ernest Amano tampered with the evidence to save his son,giving a good reason to arrest Ernest Amano.
Name
- "Amanogawa" is the Japanese word for the "Milky Way".
- His English surname is a shortened version of his Japanese one.
- His full English name may be a play on "lost man".

Notes
- Lance is the only killer in the game who is not involved with the smuggling ring. However, his father is closely associated with the leader of the smuggling ring.
