A letter addressed to Jill Crane was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into Crane's murder. It later reappeared as Letter from Unknown during his investigation into Di-Jun Huang's murder.

Jill Crane's murder

After receiving this letter, which was apparently from Kay Faraday, Crane wrote a letter and sent it back. Unbeknownst to her, she was actually communicating with Simon Keyes, who got her to seek revenge against Blaise Debeste for Jack Cameron's murder.

On the night of the murder, Keyes brought Faraday to the Grand Tower to ensure that Edgeworth would investigate Crane's murder. When he flew to the roof of the tower on his Lion Balloon, he encountered Di-Jun Huang's body double there. The body double noticed him and fired a gun at him, but Keyes crushed the body double with his balloon. Afterwards, he dropped Faraday off and left the letter on her. After she witnessed Crane climb out and die, Faraday accidentally fell into the 51st floor storeroom, where Debeste and Karin Jenson found her. Upon finding the letter, Blaise wrongly assumed that Faraday and Crane were in cahoots with each other. In order to frame Faraday for the crime, he left the letter on Crane's body and the other one on Faraday.

Later, Edgeworth received the letter from Justine Courtney. It was later used to prove that there was a mastermind behind the case.
