He later used it to call [[Larry Butz]]'s claim that he heard a single gunshot into question, as Lotta and the caretaker had both heard two gunshots. A deposition given by Lotta Hart was a piece of evidence in Phoenix Wright's investigation into the murder of Robert Hammond. It is a summary of part of Hart's testimony on the first day of the trial of Miles Edgeworth for the crime, stored in his court record files after the trial.

During the second day of the trial, Larry Butz testified that he had heard a single gunshot on the night of the murder, even though both Hart and the boat rental shop caretaker had both heard two gunshots. Wright eventually deduced that Butz was talking about a completely different incident involving a gunshot, namely the real moment of the murder.
