A love letter was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Colin Devorae.
Lance Amano's kidnapping[]

The letter was sent to Lance Amano by Viola Cadaverini to remind him to repay his $10M debt. Being unable to repay the debt himself, he decided to fake a kidnapping to obtain some of his father Ernest's money as "ransom".
Later, while Edgeworth was investigating, Ernest gave the letter to Edgeworth after Lance was found, claiming it was a love letter. However, Kay Faraday noticed that it was from the Tender Lender Loan Company, making her suspect that it was a collection bill. It was later used to prove that Lance had a motive to "kidnap" himself, since it proved that he had a debt.
