Lowgate Cemetery is a cemetery located behind Barclay Prison used to bury the bodies of deceased prison inmates. It is perhaps most famous for being where the individual convicted of being the mass murder known as "the Professor" supposedly returned from the dead and emerged from his grave.
Name[]
- "Lowgate Cemetery" is likely a reference to the real-life Highgate Cemetery, although the latter has a wide variety of individuals interred, rather than just convicted criminals. Highgate Cemetery is the final resting place of a number of notable individuals, including Douglas Adams (English author, most famously of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Bob Hoskins (English actor whose credits include Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Super Mario Bros.), Karl Marx (German philosopher, historian, sociologist, and economist, writer of The Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital), and George Michael (English singer/songwriter who was part of the pop duo Wham!, as well as a successful solo artist in his own right).
