IMPORTANT! Please DO NOT overwrite existing files, except to upload new versions of them! We have had periodic incidents of people mass-uploading images, and overwriting existing files in the process. Each time this happens, it is from a new user account with no other editing history, leading us to believe that it is one person registering over and over again. This appears to be ban-evading behavior, and attempts to contact these users have failed. As such, overwriting existing files with wholly different ones will likely be treated as vandalism and lead to a ban. The upload page tells you whether a file with the name you have entered already exists.
Please only upload a file if you intend to use it immediately. Don't just upload something expecting others to figure out where to use it. Even if you think it's likely to have a place somewhere, it will probably just be deleted.
If you are removing a file from all pages that use it, please mark it for deletion using {{speedydelete}}.
To include a file in a page, use a link in one of the following forms:
- [[File:File.jpg]] to use the full version of the file
- [[File:File.png|200px|thumb|left|alt text]] to use a 200 pixel wide rendition in a box in the left margin with 'alt text' as description
- [[Media:File.ogg]] for directly linking to the file without displaying the file
Replacing files
Please check whether the file that you are about to upload is already in the wiki. To view or search previously uploaded files, go to the list of uploaded files; (re)uploads are also logged in the upload log, while deletions are logged in the deletion log.
- If you're uploading a new version of an existing file, please upload over the existing file location instead of uploading to a new location (the warning at the top is for replacing files with different ones). This will save you the work of renaming pages to use the new file, and save others the work of dealing with duplicate images. This can be done in one of two ways:
- Hover over the edit button's dropdown and select "Replace"
- Under the file history, use the link "Upload a new version of this file"
File description
Please add a file description in the "Summary" box. In particular, your file should be categorized. Putting [[Category:Phoenix Wright images]], for example, will categorize the file under Category:Phoenix Wright images.
Images containing characters should be categorized according to what characters are being shown; sprites AND models should be put in Category:Character sprites; and evidence should be put in Category:Evidence images.
For licensing, you should probably select fair use.
