A recorder belonging to Nicole Swift was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigations into the murder of Ethan Rooke and the murder of Di-Jun Huang.
Attempt on Huang's life[]

During Di-Jun Huang's speech, Swift had it on and recording.
Edgeworth noted down the tape recorder after succeeding in getting Swift to talk. It allowed him to determine the number of gunshots, therefore allowing him to determine where the assassin would be. It was later used to prove a contradiction with Kay Faraday's photo, as Swift was missing from the picture. He later handed it, along with the other evidence, to Horace Knightley temporarily, as President Huang meant for the Zheng Fa police to take over the investigation. However, after Edgeworth negotiated with Huang to return the investigative authority to him, Knightley returned it along with the remaining evidence.
Di-Jun Huang's murder[]

A few days before the murder, Swift and her mentor, Lotta Hart, scoped out the Grand Tower to get a scoop on the illegal dealings there. To aid her mentor, Swift tapped the area around the Grand Tower, unwittingly tapping the bug Simon Keyes planted on Faraday.
Later, Edgeworth received the recorder after Swift mentioned tapping the bug to him. He later used it to prove that Simon Keyes had mentioned instigating the murders. However, while Keyes had managed to deactivate the audio picked up by the bug before it could be recorded, the recorder also captured a gunshot two nights prior to the case, allowing Edgeworth to connect Keyes to the case.
