After Ted Tonate murdered Candice Arme, the remote switch went missing, with Tonate later stating that he saw a suspicious figure take the switch. It was eventually revealed during Athena Cykes's unofficial trial for the murder of Metis Cykes that an international spy known only as "the phantom" had stolen the remote in order to destroy both Courtroom No. 4 and a moon rock within the "Hope" Capsule that contained his blood.
