Misty Fey

Misty Fey is the currently missing Master of the Kurain Channeling Technique, as well as an important figure in the background story of the Ace Attorney games. She is the mother of two major characters in the series: Mia and Maya Fey, who currently aid Phoenix Wright in his court proceedings.

Misty is also the aunt of the three daughters of her older sister: Iris, who is currently a nun at Hazakura Temple; Dahlia Hawthorne, the villain in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations; and Pearl Fey, channeling prodigy who helps Phoenix whenever Maya's not around.

Name

Her first name, "Misty," seems like a mysterious name.

Background

Before her mysterious disappearance, Misty Fey was the Master of the Kurain School of Spirit Channeling. The title is usually bestowed upon the elder of the current generation of Fey sisters. However, her spiritual powers were much greater than that of her older sister, Morgan Fey's.

Fifteen years prior to the start of the series, Misty Fey was summoned by the police to contact the spirit of Gregory Edgeworth to find out who killed him in the DL-6 Incident. Her spirit channeling was a success, and Yanni Yogi was arrested. In court, however, all charges against Yogi were dropped thanks to a temporary insanity plea by Yogi, as told by his lawyer, Robert Hammond. As a result, Misty was called a fraud by the police, but that wasn't all.

Redd White, ace blackmailer, learned about Misty's involvement in the investigation from veteran defense attorney, Marvin Grossberg, and sold the information to the press, discrediting spiritualism publicly. With so much criticism falling upon her, Misty Fey had no choice but to leave Kurain Village forever, prompting her elder daughter, Mia Fey, to find out what happened to her and investigate both Redd White and DL-6.

Misty posing as Elise Deauxnim

While she was away, she posed as a children's book illustrator named Elise Deauxnim, who became a favorite of little Pearl's. She and Iris were approached by the mysterious Prosecutor Godot who warned them that Maya Fey was going to die at the hands of Dahlia Hawthorne, being channeled by Pearl under instructions from Morgan Fey. She even showed Godot the secret about her staff: it was really a sword cane. She showed it to him to explain just how far she would go to protect her youngest daughter.

Her role in the plan was to make sure Pearl was distracted by reading books with her, but later Pearl started to worry about Maya's training at the Inner Temple. Fearing the worst, Misty summoned Dahlia so that Pearl wouldn't be able to. At the Inner Temple, just before Maya could die, Godot showed up from behind and stabbed Dahlia in the back with the sword cane. Misty Fey died as a result, thus Case 3-5.
