Simeon Saint's trick was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Bronco Knight.
Knight's murder[]
Prior to the Animal Show at the prison, Mr. Saint set up the device for his stunt where he would be blown away by Azea the elephant. In order to make it work, he tied a rope to five 33-pound weights and passed the end with the weights through the well's covering. He then passed the other end through the well's pulley and two others and tied it to himself. In order to prevent the weights from leaving him suspended in the air for the whole show, however, he used a second rope and a stopper to keep the weights from falling until he removed it.
Due to the device needing to use the well, Mr. Saint had to obtain permission from the prison's warden and administrators. However, that night, warden Fifi Laguarde killed Knight out of fear of him being one of Bodhidharma Kanis's henchmen. In order to create an alibi for herself while the body was being moved, she removed four of the five weights and replaced them with Knight's body. She also tied a colorful sheet around the body, preventing it from leaving blood traces in the well. This meant that when Simeon performed his stunt, the body would be lowered in the well, and when Mr. Saint untied the rope from himself, he would unwittingly drop the body down the well. As she expected, this was exactly what happened during the Animal Show, securing her alibi.
Later, Kay Faraday received the information about the device from Saint. Edgeworth later used the fact that there had only been one weight and one rope after the show to deduce that someone had switched the weights with the body. He later used it to prove that while Saint had dropped the body down the well during the show, he had unwittingly done so because the killer had replaced the weights with the body.
