A map of the local area was evidence in the trial of Soseki Natsume for the nonfatal stabbing of Olive Green and the follow-up trial for the nonfatal poisoning of William Shamspeare. It was a map showing Briar Road, Garrideb house, and a few areas east of there, including two bookstores.

Name[]

The streets and roads in the area are named after materials used to make tobacco pipes; Briar Road references briar, a type of wood commonly used to make pipes, Meerschaum Street references meerschaum, a porous mineral often used to make pipes prior to the introduction of briar, and Calabash Road references the calabash gourd, a fruit that is used in the construction of calabash pipes. The calabash pipe itself is stereotypically associated with Sherlock Holmes.
