Ora Shipley is a pet orca that once resided at Shipshape Aquarium. A year before the events of Turnabout Reclaimed, her trainer Azura Summers was found dead during her pirate show. Because Ora was accused of killing her, the Center for Dangerous Animal Control demanded she be euthanized. However, she was concealed by Jack Shipley and Herman Crab, while Orla Shipley, Ora's sister, replaced her and continued the pirate show with Sasha Buckler, the new trainer.

It was later revealed that Ora was never euthanized and was residing in Supermarine Aquarium in secret until her innocence could be proven.

Early Life

Ora and Orla were both found beached on a shore when they were young orca calves by Jack Shipley. They were cared for by him and Dr. Herman Crab until they were well enough to return to the wild; however, neither of them wanted to leave as they loved Shipley. Shipley brought them back to the aquarium and trained them.

Tragedy at Shipshape

On July 20, 2026, Ora was performing with Azura in a show at the aquarium when the trainer suddenly crashed to the water, motionless. Ora grabbed Azura in her mouth, leaving tooth marks in her walkie-talkie, and shook and butted her in an attempt to revive her. However, Azura had already died of a heart condition she had kept secret. Because the true cause of death was unknown to even the Shipshape employees, the audience and media assumed that Ora had killed her. Non-fiction writer Norma DePlume even wrote a book, "The Killer Killer Whale", about the incident.

In hiding

Due to the widespread rumor that Ora was a killer, the Center for Dangerous Animal Control demanded she be euthanized. However, Shipley and Crab secretly moved Ora to Supermarine Aquarium, reporting that they had carried out the euthanasia. They replaced Ora in the aquarium's new pirate show with her sister Orla, though only a handful of employees knew there were actually two orcas. Once a month for a full year, the two would pay money to this aquarium for Ora's care.

Ora's innocence was eventually proven during Sasha Buckler's trial for Jack Shipley's murder. In exposing the truth behind Shipley's death, Phoenix Wright revealed that not only were there two orcas, but neither was involved in Azura Summers' death either. DePlume, having vowed to write the truth no matter what, wrote a second book that completely went against her prior work, helping vindicate Ora in the public eye.

Free orca

After being proven innocent, Ora returned to Shipshape Aquarium, reunited with her sister, Orla. The two began performing in a new show, "Three Pirate Sisters", with Buckler and Marlon Rimes.
