Orla and Ora were both found beached on a shore when they were young orca calves by Jack Shipley. They (mostly Orla as she was in worst condition then her older sister) were cared for by him and Dr. Crab until they were well enough to return to the wild, however neither of them refused to leave as they loved Jack. And so Shipley brought them back to the aquarium as pets.

"Ora Shipley" redirects here. For the orca that resided at Shipshape Aquarium one year before the events of Turnabout Reclaimed, see Ora Shipley the First.

Ora "Orla" Shipley[1] is a pet orca living in Shipshape Aquarium. After the aquarium's owner, Jack Shipley, was found dead by Orla's pool, Orla came under suspicion in Shipley's death. Her trainer Sasha Buckler requested that Phoenix Wright defend Orla in court.

Despite her name being "Ora", she responds to "Orla". It is later revealed that the original Ora Shipley is Orla's older sister.

Early Life

Orla and Ora were both found beached on a shore when they were young orca calves by Jack Shipley. They (mostly Orla as she was in worst condition then her older sister) were cared for by him and Dr. Crab until they were well enough to return to the wild, however neither of them refused to leave as they loved Jack. And so Shipley brought them back to the aquarium as pets.

Name

F4ogoUO

Orla's mugshot.

  • "Ale" comes from "hoeeru" (ホエール), a word for "whale".
  • "Orla" and "Ora" are both derived from "orca" while "Shipley" is a play on the word "ship."

Development

  • Orla is the second animal to be cross-examined in court in the series, as well as the second to be called the stand by Wright as a witness. She is, however, the first witness to not speak any English at all during a testimony.
