Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin
Playing this tune here is a precious gig for me and my girl here, ya dig?

Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin was the head monk of Khura'in's Tehm'pul Temple, the duties of which included performing the musical accompaniment to Princess Rayfa Padma Khura'in's Dance of Devotion on a Khura'inese string instrument called a "dahmalan". He was called as a witness in Ahlbi Ur'gaid's trial of the Founder's Orb and the murder of Paht Rohl.

That plinkity-plunk music just wouldn't let me express my RAGE!

Murdering Paht Rohl with a dahmalan.

Andistan'dhin was tasked by the Khura'in Minister of Justice Inga Karkhuul Khura'in to steal the Founder's Orb, with his position as head monk easily allowing him to do so, leaving the treasure box used to store it empty. However, some time later guardsman Paht Rohl also attempted to steal it, thereby threatening to expose the Orb's disappearance. In order to cover-up his theft, Andistan'dhin killed Rohl by slamming his dahmalan onto the guard's head, breaking the instrument in the process. Although he attempted to pin the blame on Ur'gaid, Phoenix Wright was able to both prove Ur'gaid innocence and Andistan'dhin's crimes in court.

Personality

Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin
I'm the twilight messenger. Can't ya tell?!
Gonna take this lying lawyer straight to hell!
He's drippin' with lies, runnin' with philistines.
I'm gonna send that lawyer to the guillotines!
Potdinoshot

Mugshot.

Initially, Andistan'dhin appeared to be a very calm, collected, and polite individual who took the teachings of Khura'inism extremely seriously. He would often pepper his speech with impromptu ethnic music and singing, to which Chief Prosecutor Gaspen Payne, the judge, and even Wright sang along with.

However, after Wright began to reveal his lies, Andistan'dhin became loud, crass, and unafraid to openly insult Wright or Ur'gaid; the complete opposite of his previous persona. Instead of ethnic music, he would pepper his speech with heavy metal singing and headbanging, regularly appealing to the gallery's thirst for blood and dislike of lawyers.

Name

  • His Japanese given name comes from "pottode" (ぽっと出), which means "suddenly from the sticks" or "out of nowhere", while his surname comes from "niwaka" (にわか), which means "suddenly". This could be a reference to his sudden transformation from a calm, eccentric dahmalan player to a loud and abrasive heavy metal singer. His surname was originally spelled "Niwakas" (ニワカス) on the official Gyakuten Saiban 6 website, but was later changed to "Nikawas" (ニカワス).
  • His full English name is a play on "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding", a 1974 song written by English singer/songwriter Nick Lowe and subsequently covered by Elvis Costello and Curtis Stigers. The judge even references this when the first statement of Andistan'dhin's first testimony is pressed.[1].
