When a Japanese man named Genshin Asōgi was arrested for killing five nobles of the Great British Empire, the queen grew worried. Their country and Japan were in the middle of negotiating the establishment of an alliance treaty. But if word got out about Genshin killing the British nobles, there wouldn't any alliance happening anytime soon. In fact, there was chance that the two countries could declare war on each other. So Queen Victoria had the trial conducted in absolute secrecy, the public was unaware this was happening. Genshin was quickly found guilty and executed.

The trial for Gregson's murder could potentially reveal the actual truth behind this "curse," the queen didn't know how the public would react to this so she had this trial conducted in absolute secrecy, it was the first one since Genshin's case.
