Semifinal desserts were a piece of evidence in Gregory Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Pierre Hoquet.
Dover's murder

Prior to the murder, Jeffrey Master took the photo and tasted the desserts.
Later, Edgeworth received the photo from Katherine Hall. He later used it to prove that there was a deeper connection between Dane Gustavia and Isaac Dover.
