A statute of limitations book was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Artie Frost.

Carmelo Gusto's poisoning

Edgeworth received a copy from Verity Gavèlle when she revealed why Judy Bound could not be tried for her theft of Artie Frost's zodiac ice sculptures. He later used it to show Carmelo Gusto that the statute of limitations for Frost's murder had been extended due to his trip abroad, and the statute of limitations is stopped until a verdict is reached for possible accomplices on trial.

Theft 7 years from the date of the crime. Separate timeframes apply with regards to claims for damages etc. Murder 15 years from the date of the crime. The statute is suspended should the suspect flee to a foreign country. The statute is suspended from the time of any accomplice's indictment to the end of their trial.
