Tōru Metadanai was the flamboyant producer for the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe. He was present when actor Yuya Dan was injured during an on-stage incident, with Will Powers being accused as the culprit.
Early life[]
Metadanai started work in the theatre as a stagehand, although he struggled to feed himself due to the low income of the job. However, with hard work, over time he was eventually able to rise up to the rank of producer of the Steel Samurai Theatre Troupe.
Attempted murder of Will Powers[]

Due to his own struggle to make a living in theatre, Metadanai grew to resent Will Powers for being a famous actor despite (from the producer's point of view) not working as hard as he had to become successful. Because of this, he attempted to kill Powers to open the way to replace him with Yuya Dan, as well as scheme to replace EriCorp (the troupe's sponsor who started working with them due to Hananitsuku Erito's connections to Will Powers) with a new company called Eshiro Housing. He planned to do so by having a fight scene with the Steel Samurai and Crow Tengu end in Powers being positioned under a giant lantern that would fall and fatally crush the actor underneath.
However, due to amateur actor Larry Butz's poor acting, Dan instead ended up underneath the large lantern and was nonfatally injured. Metadanai's plot was eventually uncovered by Powers' attorney, Phoenix Wright, due to the producer still having black grease stains on his hands from the stage weights used for the lantern, as well as the distinctive smell of his lip gloss lingering on the whistle used as the cue to lower said lantern.
Personality[]
Metadanai is fairly flamboyant with a number of eccentricities to his mannerisms, including making small leaps for no apparent reason, making popping noises with his mouth, and walking round with his eyes closed in an attempt to see where it leads him; an odd byproduct of this latter behavior is that he is able to navigate dark areas with relative ease.
Other people often mispronounced his name, much to his annoyance. He also resents the success of others if he feels they didn't work hard enough to get there, as shown by his plot against Powers.
