Ace Attorney Wiki

Phineas Filch's circled TV listings were a piece of evidence in Apollo Justice's investigation into the murder of Rex Kyubi.

Supernatural showdown[]

At 3pm on April 17, 2027, the Tenma Town wrestling match between Howlin' Wolf and Pretty Boy Vampire was broadcast on television, with Timothy Twilight providing "blow-by-blow commentary". Phineas Filch, caretaker of Kyubi Manor and wrestling aficionado, was watching the match at the time, and thus not keeping an eye on the manor's foyer like he was supposed to be doing. Filch was ultimately disappointed in the match, describing the participating wrestlers as "a couple o' rank amateurs" and the showdown itself as such "a complete disaster" that even he could have done a better job.

After Rex Kyubi, alderman of Nine-Tails Vale, was murdered in the manor shortly after the match, the mayor of Tenma Town, Damian Tenma was arrested as the suspected culprit. Tenma's defense attorney, Apollo Justice, investigated the manor and found the TV listing that had the match circled. During the subsequent trial, Justice was able to show that Filch had been lax in his guard duties by presenting said listing to the court, thereby throwing the legitimacy of the caretaker's testimony into question. Justice was ultimately able to prove that the mayor's personal aide, Florent L'Belle, was the true culprit behind the alderman's murder and Tenma was acquitted.

Shows listed[]

  • The shows in the TV listings are:
    • A repeat broadcast of the eighth episode of I Married a Yokai!, titled ""Wait? You're Really Human?" and starring Ginger Vitus and Willie Waite; the names of the two actors are plays on the gum disease gingivitis and "will he wait", respectively.
    • A show with the partial title of "Wonders of the Brain" that appears to be about the myth that humans only use a small portion of their brain's true potential.
    • The second episode of a show with the partial title of "Time: 10-Part Chain Reaction" starring Phil Ihn and Moe Blocks; the names of the two actors are plays on "fill in" and "more blocks", respectively, likely in reference to said characters being created purely to fill space in an unimportant section of a piece of evidence.
    • The wrestling match between Howlin' Wolf and Pretty Boy Vampire, with commentary by Timothy Twilight.
    • Peek-a-Boo, I Found You "Yokai of the Amazon", which is about "the hunt for Tofu Taro, a high-protein yokai said to fight cancer and heart disease".
    • A show for which the title is only partially readable, but appears to be about an individual called "Herlock Bones". A few of the legible words of the listing appear to hint that it is some sort of mystery show, which is backed-up by "Herlock Bones" being a play on the name of the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes; Holmes would later appear as a character in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, although the English localization changed his name to Herlock Sholmes.
    • The Vale News, which appears to be a news show about Nine-Tails Vale that is running a feature on municipal protests intensifying.
    • What appears to be the first part of a late afternoon educational show titled Sunset Course that is about French philosophy.
    • A show questioning whether an unreadable topic is "Reality or Hoax?"
