The only two explanations I can think of are: the file losing happened the year before and his superiors weren't that bothered until he lost his pistol and badge too, then brought the file misplacement up and fired him or he simply wasn't a police officer during the kidnapping. |

I believe he's actually the only character who only physically appears in the past. Anyway, the Court Record lists his age as 31 here. I'm not sure whether to include this or not because it's definitely there when you check the Court Record in one of the four present day scenarios, but he doesn't actually appear then.
