Ahh, fake (a little late to mention this now, yes I know), seems this rumor was refering to Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney.

The Mentality System

Eshiro and Yamazaki talked a little about this new system in the Famitsu GS5 interview, here is what they said.

"About the Mentality System"

"Famitsu: Can we ask about the game systems? Yamazaki: We announced a bit about the new system. It is a system that allows you to deduce not from evidencec, but from a psychological side.
Eshiro: You find contradictions in emotions, like when someone is happy during a sad event and deduce from there. You'll find something new there, from which the story will develop."

Capcom's Hagitoko - Gyakuten Saiban 5 (concept art can be seen!)

Has anyone seen this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9SbNm2otD4

A Court Records member recorded this AA5 segment from Capcom's livestream that focus on their upcoming games. Some cool concept art (1:15 to 1:42 and 4:50 to 5:08) can be seen.

Also, the new assistant's name is mentioned at one point but it got blepped out, lol.

BONES working on animated scenes in AA5! + Kokone's official art

While the details on this are still scarce, during a live presentation today it was announced Bones, the studio responsible for PLvsAA's animated scenes, are also working on Ace Attorney 5.

Two scenes can be seen in the link.

http://forums.court-records.net/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24078

At the moment it's not clear how these scenes will play into the game.

The official site has also updated with official art for Kokone (it can be also be seen in the link).

AA5 interview in Nintendo Dream

Here is a AA5 interview in Nintendo Dream (December issue), there is nothing new that we don't know about though so here are just all the info that sounds interesting.

- They talk about the reception at TGS and the pressure of developing a proper sequel to the AA series.
- Yamazaki is a 'scenario director', which is a rare function actually. The scenario is written together by four people, with Yamazaki having the last call on edits and such.
- They talk about the theme of the ''trials falling apart'. They had played with a concept of a 'torture trial' if you get a guilty verdict.
- They talk about how it is to have to change from writing from Edgeworth's point of view to Nick's, as they are different characters, naturally (Both Eshiro and Yamazaki worked on AAI, so they talked about how it was to have to work on a different character then Edgeworth)
- In the animated parts (which was seen at TGS), you see that
Nick is still using the same cellphone he has always used.
- Because of the better sound quality of the 3DS,
they couldn't use the old sound bites Takumi Shuu had done (Objection! etc). And as they are using animation anyway, they have hired proper voice actors. But for smaller parts, they might still use company workers (in the demo, the voice of Shinobu was actually also a company worker)
- Dark Payne (Fumitake) was conceived because
they wanted a evil prosecutor, but they couldn't just change Payne (Winston) in someone evil suddenly. They do still think that Payne (again, Winston) is still working. They joke about how the Paynes are now the Turnabout Brothers. Yamazaki throws in an idea for a new game: Turnabout Payne (Eshiro: What are they going to turnabout?!).
-
If'
Kay is a genki girl, then Kotone is a determined girl, who will do everything to help her superior, according to Yamazaki.
- The pendant Kotone is wearing is called a Monita (モニ太). Because a monitor comes out of it. One of the apps in it, is the Heart Scope.

Here is the same interview from Siliconera but it mentions some few things that isn't mentioned above.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/10/21/ace-attorney-5s-phoenix-wright-will-inherit-his-traits-from-apollo-justice-ace-attorney/

- producer is Motohide Eshiro.
- the four writers and the character designer lodged together for four days and three nights.
- this was for a brainstorming session.
- this is when they came up with the “impactful event” (the courtroom explosion seen in the trailer).
- Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth had never been the main playable character prior to the Investigations games, so his quirks were easy to work with.
- with Phoenix, it took much more time to grasp his character.
- the team wanted to create a Phoenix that inherited his traits from Apollo Justice.
- they also brought back some of his “youth” from Trials and Tribulations.
- Kokone Kizuki's name comes from a play on words for “to notice things” and “listening to the heart or soul”.
- she was designed to be a heroine who actively fights alongside Phoenix.
- she's a defense attorney working under Phoenix.
- her first design was extremely sci-fi-esque.
- the monitor (named “Monita”) hanging from her neck is what enables the special “Heart Scope” function.
- Yamazaki suggested a system where one could see through the various emotions a witness goes through as he’s giving his account.
- These emotions would hold the key to seeing through the various preconceptions and prejudices of people dragged into such an extreme situation.
- the staff are aware that there will be much resistance to new voice actors and sounds.
- they still feel it's important to change things.
- the staff wanted the game sequences to work with the anime scenes.
- returning characters were carefully selected by Eshiro.
- he considered characters that were not only very popular but also those who would fit into the story.

Rival prosecutor

An AWC wrote this:

Jin Yuugami (夕神 迅) - The main rival prosecutor of the game. He is accused of having committed murder, but was chosen to stand in court nonetheless. He wears a black-and-white jacket and handcuffs, and carries a pet hawk on his shoulder.

Other characters

Do we know if any other old characters are going to make a reappearance, or is it confirmed that it is not happening (e.g. Maya, Pearl, Franziska)? Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 04:32, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

The only confirmed characters at the moment are those on the page. That certain characters didn't make an appearance in AJ: AA made sense to me, as the game was from the point of view of Justice. However with Nick once again becoming playable, I would be very surprised if old favourites don't make a reappearance. - Strabo412 (talk) 09:25, April 26, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, but just making sure, there hasn't been any kind of announcement explicitly saying they're not appearing? Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 15:05, April 26, 2013 (UTC)
During an interview when Tsuyoshi Yamazaki was asked about Maya:
Tsuyoshi Yamazaki
"Well, she might be back at her home village for more training," Yamazaki laughed. "This new girl is certainly a key part of the story, but designing her was a pretty rough process. She looked almost alien-like at first, which was partly due to the fact that her background was a lot different than it is today. Yellow was always her theme color, though — she really has a drive to win, so in that respect she's a fair bit different than Maya."
I think Motohide Eshiro also at one point mentioned that he carefully selected returning characters that were not only very popular, but would also fit into the story. That's all the information as far as I know. You'll know in three months when the game is released in Japan. I'm going to try and avoid finding out before I play the game if I can though... - Strabo412 (talk) 15:29, April 26, 2013 (UTC)
Well, that's somewhat good news. I don't exactly understand why, though, every time Kokone is brought up, that it's stated that Maya didn't have any drive to win. I personally think she did, partly because she was a defendant (and client of Nick's) in the past, so she didn't want to see an innocent person accused for something they didn't do. Maybe Kokone has different reasons, but that doesn't exactly mean Maya didn't want to win while working as Phoenix's co-council. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 19:11, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

Charley's blog

So apparently there's a members-only blog where a bunch of extra information is coming from. Some people have mentioned some details in this thread, but I'm mainly concerned about how this info is going to be cited and/or linked to. capefeather (talk) 22:46, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

Second case

Do we have a name for the second case yet? I've seen it being called Turnabout Pandemonium, but I think "百鬼夜行" means something like "scandalous scene" or "gathering of demons and monsters". However, I could be entirely wrong as I know absolutely no Japanese. - Strabo412 (talk) 14:44, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

People at CR kept mentioning that there isn't much of a perfect translation for it, so I left the Japanese name as-is. capefeather (talk) 19:39, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

百鬼夜行 (hyakkiyakō, lit. Night parade of one hundred demons) is well known Japanese word in anime/manga Nurarihyon no Mago as anime/manga's theme involves yōkai (demons) and other Japanese folklore, myths, legends, etc.

Maybe this is the accurate translation of the second case?

Knowledge can be anything or something you know about. (talk) 07:34, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, the whole demon parade thing is what I gathered from a cursory Google search. It doesn't really fit as an English title though. Since the game will be out in English relatively soon, I suppose it's not really a priority... - Strabo412 (talk) 15:34, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
I have to agree with Strabo412. The problem with straight kanji readings (which "night parade of one hundred demons" is, except rearranged to make a bit more sense) is that that's just not how one would interpret words in Japanese or other East Asian languages. Compound kanji/hanja can be a lot more idiomatic than compound words, so a better way to approach interpreting them is by good old dictionary definitions. English translations of cases tend to be pretty unambiguous, which is why they're usually used. However, in this case, I think most would agree we'd need more context before interpreting it as "pandemonium" or "scandalous scene" or "monster parade" or whatever. capefeather (talk) 22:15, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

I had spoken with my little sister's best friend (who can read and translate Japanese and its Kanji at a high school level) for help on translating the Kanji words of the title of the second case. He told me that he is 99% sure it is "Turnabout Pandemonium" since "scandalous scene" and "monster parade" did not fit with the screenshots and info from the Gyakuten Saiban 5 official website.

"Pandemonium" means "chaos" or "chaos from the past"; which make sense because the partial intro of the second case did show the Karasu-Tengu and the Kyuubi fighting each other, which resulted with the Karasu-Tengu being sealed away by (assuming) Yumemi Tenma's ancestor and presuming was watch over by the Kyuubi Village's leaders along with a member of the Tenma Family until the present day.

Knowledge can be anything or something you know about. (talk) 06:37, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

But couldn't you just as easily say that "monster parade" or "scandalous scene" fit as well, since the setting seems to be a village filled with "yōkai" and "scandalously" a mayor has apparently killed another mayor? Interestingly however (and I'm sure this is partly why the word has been chosen by some for this case), "pandemonium" literally means "all demons". Apparently it was also created by John Milton when he wrote "Paradise Lost. So there you go. I've learnt something new today. - Strabo412 (talk) 21:30, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

However, all we know that case beings with the intro with the only two "great" demon, the Karasu-Tengu and the Kyuubi fighting each other before the Karasu-Tengu was sealed away. And we don't know (yet) if Yumemi's father kill the Kyuubi's Village mayor since he was found unconscious with blood on his forehead and the crime scene is showing that Karasu-Tengu did the crime (unless the demon had somehow spiritually posses and transform someone into it). Knowledge can be anything or something you know about. (talk) 01:38, July 2, 2013 (UTC)

My inclination is that it's supposed to mean all of these things. capefeather (talk) 13:11, July 2, 2013 (UTC)

Tenma's name

Anyone know what the name of Jinxie's father (天馬 出右衛門) is? He's the only Case 2 character whose name we don't know (the victim's name is never revealed apparently). TheNewEditor (talk) 07:10, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

DLC case name

Just to explain my rationale a bit further, I think we should go with "Return of the Turnabout" rather than the relatively awkward "Turnabout Return". The Japanese name is of the form "[possessor] no [possessed]" and it could be either one (actually, "Turnabout's Return" but that's even more awkward). Notably, the TGS trailer also uses the name to introduce Phoenix Wright, and the English announcement trailer changes this to "Return of a Legend". This is another title that the localization might use, but since they've only taken out the "Turnabout" on one case, my bets are still on something like "Return of the Turnabout". It may be a bit generic, but that's because it works. capefeather (talk) 15:25, July 25, 2013 (UTC)

It's a moot point, as we have a localized name, and it is Turnabout Return. Source: [1] 38.124.7.10 16:31, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw. Damn it... capefeather (talk) 15:12, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

Character vidoes and alternate covers

Just wondring about these characters videos (the ones with Phoenix, Athena, Apollo, Trucy, Bobby, Edgeworth and Simon of course), can anyone tell if they say anything new about the characters that we don't know about already?

Also, has anyone notice these cool alternate covers for the DD boxart? (bottom)

Not saying we should make a note of them or anything (though that would be nice), just wanted to show them. Too bad (but not surprising) they are Japan-only, and we are getting digital-only release anyway so... 85.24.239.134 17:58, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

Why can't I add info fro the new characters?

All of the other games show all of the characters in their pages. So why is it different now that the game is released in america? GameBoy14 (talk) 23:05, October 27, 2013 (UTC)

It says why quite clearly at the top of the section. CrashBash (talk) 07:03, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

The first four games were out by the time this wiki was created, so they're very bare-bones and there's little info on how the games developed and info was released. The games released after Apollo Justice were built alongside the info development of the games, so they could be written in a way that reflected the development. Really, full character lists exist in the articles for the older games because there isn't much else that can be written in the articles. If anything, maybe those lists should be restricted to the main characters. IMO full character lists just aren't that useful and only serve to bloat articles and spoil unnecessarily. capefeather (talk) 14:57, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

Wow I just realized how unintelligible my last comment was. What I meant was that the articles of he first four games are bare-bones, and the articles for the later games were written alongside the games' development. capefeather (talk) 19:49, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Spoiler templates

Should the Spoiler templates be removed for Dual Destines related things? The game been out for about seven months. --Doggieboy9 (talk) 23:18, May 5, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, it's probably getting to around that time. - Strabo412 (talk) 15:06, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Page length

So... this page is really long. As of this writing:

So, it's much longer than either of the AAI pages, and not much shorter than both combined. I noticed this when adding the popularity poll, when the sheer amount of stuff in the editor caused my browser to slow down (this also happened when I copyedited Miles Edgeworth recently). And he popularity poll isn't even very significant to the overall size. I'm not entirely sure that any specific section is to blame. Maybe this page needs to be split into tabs. Perhaps the CharacterTab templates could be retooled for this purpose? Or maybe it just needs a good cutting down like with Miles Edgeworth. capefeather (talk) 03:43, October 14, 2014 (UTC)

But becoming very interested in the topic I went looking for answers and in that link provided by the user above: Dual Destinies was mentioned twice: once in 2017 and once in 2013. And the 2013 page ( http://www.classification.gov.au/Pages/View.aspx?sid=AH%252fonejmanVGqIep1Uhu6g%253d%253d&ncdctx=r43mgUl2OWu8OfL7GRIt1QhUkZeZ7YrgNKDj0WUphQxYZfa4rca37doKoLZu9GvC ) lists the game as rated PG.

I would also like to point out that the link posted by the user above me has the 2017 entry labled null next to the game and as the author, so it's possible the 2017 is null and void. Franzyfan1998 (talk) 02:46, January 29, 2018 (UTC)
