Can I ask if you watched this pro wrestling program today?
Phineas Filch
Yep, 'twas a match between a couple o' rank amateurs, though. It was a complete disaster. I reckon even I coulda done better than that.
Timothy Twilight was a professional wrestling commentator, who provided commentary on a match between Howlin' Wolf and Pretty Boy Vampire. Said match proved to be important evidence during the trial of Damian Tenma for the murder of Rex Kyubi.
Supernatural showdown[]
At 3pm on April 17, 2027, the Tenma Town wrestling match between Howlin' Wolf and Pretty Boy Vampire was broadcast on television, with Timothy Twilight providing "blow-by-blow commentary". Phineas Filch, caretaker of Kyubi Manor and wrestling aficionado, was watching the match at the time, and thus not keeping an eye on the manor's foyer like he was supposed to be doing. Filch was ultimately disappointed in the match, describing the participating wrestlers as "a couple o' rank amateurs" and the showdown itself as such "a complete disaster" that even he could have done a better job.
After Rex Kyubi, alderman of Nine-Tails Vale, was murdered in the manor shortly after the match, the mayor of Tenma Town, Damian Tenma was arrested as the suspected culprit. Tenma's defense attorney, Apollo Justice, investigated the manor and found a TV listing that had the match circled. During the subsequent trial, Justice was able to show that Filch had been lax in his guard duties by presenting said listing to the court, thereby throwing the legitimacy of the caretaker's testimony into question. Justice was ultimately able to prove that the mayor's personal aide, Florent L'Belle, was the true culprit behind the alderman's murder and Tenma was acquitted.
Name[]
- Japanese - Fukumen Maiku (覆面マイク):
- Translates into English as "Masked Microphone", referencing both masked wrestlers and the microphone he would likely be using for his commentary.
- English - Timothy Twilight:
- Pretty Boy Vampire, Howlin' Wolf, and Timothy Twilight are all likely references to the Twilight series of novels, which feature a vampire and werewolf as love interests of the protagonist. The final film adaptation of the novels, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, was released in 2012, which was the year before Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies came out.
- French - Nelson Edouard:
- "Nelson" may come from the Nelson hold in wrestling.
- "Edouard" is the French equivalent of "Edward"; as the French localization keeps the "wolf vs. vampire" theme, it may be a reference to Edward Cullen, the vampire love interest in the Twilight series.
- German - Andi Sager:
- "Sanger" means "sayer" or "one who says" in German, thereby referencing his occupation as a commentator.
- Chinese - Méng miàn màikè / Méng miàn màikè (蒙面麦克 / 蒙面麥克):
- Translates into English as "Masked Mike", which is similar to the original Japanese name (with "mike" being an informal term for a microphone).
- Korean - Bogmyeon Maikeu (복면 마이크):
- Translates into English as "Masked Microphone", which is the same as the original Japanese name.
