At Imperial Yumei University, a University Collar Pin, also known as a university pin badge, is a student's main piece of identification. It consists of a black square with a gold decal reading "Imperial", and the casing round the sides has four spikes arranged on perpendicular axes. A number on the back denotes the owner's six-digit student number. It is worn with pride by all students at the university, though many end up cutting their fingers on their badges.
Ryunosuke Naruhodo has lost his pin badge three times, including right after his first trial. Though he says he can never remember his student number to get a new pin made, he has managed to obtain a new one every time. Kazuma Asogi could also seen wearing a pin of his own on his own student uniform.

On Steam, the level 1 badge for completing a trading card collection is a wooden pin. This references the level 1 badge in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, which has its level 1 badge as a paper badge.
