A used gas burner was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Pierre Hoquet.

Dane Gustavia's poisoning

Main article: The Inherited Turnabout

Prior to his poisoning, Dane Gustavia, who had heard about the opening of the Zodiac Art Gallery, decided to enter early. This was due to his murder of Isaac Dover 18 years earlier, as he had hidden Dover's body within the Gemini sculpture. Worried that the body would be noticed, he entered the "Winter Palace" before its opening and locked himself in. He then used the burner in order to open the case of what he thought was the Gemini sculpture. However, unbeknownst to him, Katherine Hall had set up a trap for him by switching the Autumn and Winter Palaces and disguising the Autumn Palace as the Winter Palace. She had also booby-trapped the Pisces sculpture's case and disguised it as the Gemini one, knowing that the killer from the IS-7 Incident would open it to remove the body. Due to this, when Gustavia used the burner, the fatallium on top melted and mixed with the normallium underneath, creating a toxic gas that spewed out upon Gustavia's opening of the lid. He then stumbled out, leaving the burner behind.

Edgeworth received the gas burner from Dick Gumshoe, who had found it in the Autumn Palace. He later used it to show how Gustavia opened the glass case.
