Ace Attorney Wiki

UPDATE 2: The GoNintendo report is apparently mistranslated:

GoNintendo's report is mistranslated. The original article actually says that he considered the Ace Attorney series done with "Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney", but that the fans are making him reconsider. Textually, he says that "the fans' acclaim are making me stop and think about a series I considered finished." He then says that he really likes the Ghost Trick experience (hinting, maybe, that he wants to continue that series), but that the fans' reaction to Ace Attorney are making him think everything through. He actually asks the reporter "what should I do?", as in "should I continue with Ghost Trick or with Ace Attorney?".
Court Records

So Takumi considered the series finished for him at Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, but obviously others have extended the series for him with Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and possibly further titles as have been mentioned in the past. Nonetheless, with so much fan acclaim for the series, he is considering being involved in the series again. capefeather 13:57, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

UPDATE: To clarify, this does not necessarily mean that the series is dead, just that Takumi probably won't be a major contributor anymore. Past interviews with other staff have indicated that another Ace Attorney Investigations game and a Gyakuten Saiban 5 are being at least considered for development. The end of the series wasn't explicitly implied in the interview, but it seems that people keep jumping to that conclusion (which is why I mentioned Comic-Con) so there you go. capefeather 13:46, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

GoNintendo interviewed Shu Takumi on his latest game Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, as well as the future of the Ace Attorney series. During the interview, Takumi revealed that he considers the Ace Attorney series "finished" with Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. However, he knows that many fans love the series to this day, so he is debating on making another game in the series. More info can be found in the GoNintendo link under Sources.

On the other hand, Capcom has revealed it's "roster" for Comic-Con, including Takumi and Motohide Eshiro:

Capcom
A posse of Capcom's top producers have journeyed across the Pacific to join us at Comic Con this year. Foremost is Keiji Inafune, the father of Mega Man and endless top Capcom titles, plus Ryota Niitsuma (Marvel VS Capcom 3), Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Basara Sengoku: Samurai Heroes, Devil May Cry 4), Motohide Eshiro (Okamiden, Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth), Shu Takumi and Hironobu Takeshita (Ghost Trick), Shinsaku Ohara (Dead Rising 2), and Yoshinori Ono (Super Street Fighter IV)! All of Capcom's producers will be available to meet fans as well as sign autographs of exclusive posters for their games during set times in the Capcom booth (come by to check out the signing schedule).

So someone may end up prodding them on this topic further!
