Re: Table formatting

Typically, the MediaWiki version should not affect the table rendering display, and 1.12 isn't really an "outdated version" (it is an older version, yes, but is still one of the three "Current Versions" listed on the MediaWiki homepage).

I haven't had a chance to look at which tables are not showing up right, but if I were to hazard a guess, a typical situation is that users expect this wiki to have the same CSS rules defined as Wikipedia's, when it does not. The difference in CSS rules can greatly affect the display of various elements of the page.

A second common situation is the difference in Tidy implementation. The closest simple explanation is like two different printers try to fix your typos differently for you when you want to print out an essay you typed. So if you print your essay using one printer, certain typos gets "fixed" one way, whereas using a different printer "fixes" the typos a different way. Wikia's Tidy implementation is, I believe, slightly different from Wikipedia's, and that has often caused very messed up pages in the past when other users try copying articles from Wikipedia.

If you can point me to an example of what you want to do not working, I'll take a look and investigate if the cause is any of the two above issues, or if in fact 1.13 has implemented new syntax/rendering methods that breaks on older versions of MediaWiki, or if there is some other cause for the tables you want to not display right. -User:PanSola(talk/history) 18:55, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

The table thing has been fixed (or at least, the template you copied into Template:Sandbox now looks normal). The problem was with Template:!, where you had an extra line break before the NOINCLUDE tag, so when you use two Template:! in a row, instead of getting:
(which informs MediaWiki to start a new tabel cell), the page's code was:
(which means something else and breaks the table formatting). If there are any other issues, feel free to let me know! (-: -User:PanSola(talk/history) 18:35, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
You are very welcome (-: -User:PanSola(talk/history) 02:28, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the good job on welcoming the other users to this wiki btw!!! Keep up the good work! (-: -User:PanSola(talk/history) 18:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Re: Top Conent category

This is meant to be an "editor's choice" list that the admin of each wiki can populate. You can add articles to the top of this list here: MediaWiki:Most popular articles. If there are no entries on that page (or fewer than 7 entries), the rest of the list will automatically be populated with the articles with the highest traffic on that wiki.

For more info, see the "Magic Words" heading of w:c:Help:Customizing_Monaco#Main_Navigation

Yeah, the hair and eyes bit should be removed after a pic for some appearances is uploaded for some characters.

Re: Sign unsigned comments

not entirely sure what you have in mind is what I have in mind, but on GuildWiki we have a Template:Unsigned which you can borrow, if it's the thing that does what you want it to do. If you meant something else, please let me know in more detail what you want to do. (-: -User:PanSola(talk/history) 21:42, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

The page history and recentchanges are pretty much the only way to find out. -User:PanSola(talk/history) 23:26, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, are you in charge here? If you are can you please tell me why the comments are disabled. Whitehorse24 (talk) 00:57, May 12, 2015 (UTC)Whitehorse24

the include-related tags do different things when it comes to preloading. Sometimes they get copied over verbatim, sometimes they gets parsed so that stuff inside noinclude tags get excluded. It depends on the parser function. Right now preload is working in verbatim mode, which doesn't actually hinder the usage of preloading the template, even if it adds clutter. -User:PanSola(talk/history) 16:52, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

To elaborate, the "preload=BlahBlahBlah" parameter is supposed to copy everything inside the BlahBlahBlah page, and put it in the edit buffer of the new page. Therefore it is technically doing what it is being told to do. You just need to tell it to do something else to get the result you intended. -User:PanSola(talk/history) 17:03, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

They used some CSS tricks to make the header invisible on their front page. -User:PanSola(talk/history) 06:06, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Franz quote

The quote I'm not 100% sure about. I'm sure there's an example of Franz saying something that had an obscene amount of fools in it but whether that's an accurate quote or not, I dunno. I'm replaying the games atm (hence all the Rise from the Ashes edits) so I'll see. I'll take it down just now and put up another one I will know is accurate. Strabo412 20:21, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Spotlight Request

Hi. Ace Attorney Wiki looks good -- you are doing a great job with it. We do need the sitenotice to be less than two lines however. Personally, I'd say it's ok not to have the big spoiler warning in it; say it somewhere on the front page if you think it's really necessary and let it go. But how you shorten it is up to you. Once that's taken care of I'll be happy to add you guys to the spotlight list.

I've asked one of the gaming community helpers to talk to you about other ways you can promote the wiki as well. -- Wendy (talk) 23:25, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

RE: Gyakuten Kenji

I too, do not speak Japanese and I don't have it. I have been very interested, so I decided to collect information from other sources and expand the GK stuff on here. I tried usin your new template, but whenever I tried to put something past the first character for witnesses and chars. they would end up as a hidden structure, and the evidence, image 2, and I believe time also were not blank, but had the {{ }} Flippier999 01:24, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey Capefeather, I'm Richard1990, part of Wikia's gaming team. I'm just dropping by to gave your wiki some search engine optimization (SEO). The main thing I wanted to do was to change MediaWiki:Pagetitle and MediaWiki:Pagetitle-view-mainpage so that they include 3 keywords that people often use to search for topics related to this wiki's subject. This will improve the rank this wiki will have when people search for those terms, resulting in a growth in the wiki's community. The Magic Bullet explains this and has some more tips. You may also want to use Wikipedia's Wikia template by using it on Wikipedia's articles related to this wiki's subject. I've also left this message on the talk pages of the other active administrators.

So is it alright if I edit MediaWiki:Pagetitle and MediaWiki:Pagetitle-view-mainpage?--Richardtalk 16:56, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Whenever I've used the Wikia template, most of the time it stays there. There's just a few select editors who are strict regarding external links, so you could always try to put it in an article and see what happens.--Richardtalk 19:50, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

AAI: Confusion and Apology

Quite frankly, the page wasn't like that when I left. I just uploaded the North American box art in place of the logo in the template. Of course, it is probably my fault, and I apologize for the mishap. --Tutuboy95 20:29, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the invite. I just created a page on the Jammin' Ninja and could use some help there. Thanks! --SleepingDragon7 17:01, 9 August 2009 (AEST)

Character Heights

Since Court Records conveniently provides the heights of (most) characters in centimeters, should we put the measures on the site (maybe both metric and customary measurements)? --Tutuboy95 22:47, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Hmm. That sucks. Ah well. Since most of the characters are from Phoenix's time, anyway, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, right? I hope...--Tutuboy95 21:45, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Audio clips

Hi. Sorry for bothering you again, but is there any way to upload audio onto the wiki? I was thinking that we could insert audio for the characters yelling Objection!, Hold it! and such.--Tutuboy95 21:36, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Google question

Hi. I'm an admin at the Ace Attorney Wiki, and I've been following the wiki's Google ranking for a while now. For a long time, it sat around the 40-60 range. However, one day, it suddenly shot up to one of the top spots, with only high-profile stuff like the official site, Wikipedia and Gamespot above it. A while after that, the link completely disappeared except for a link to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney somewhere in the 300s. Would anyone know what happened here? capefeather 14:34, September 1, 2009 (UTC)

Hi there! I moved your post over here, so we can talk about it on the wiki itself. I'm really glad you're interested in your Google rank!
I just checked for Ace Attorney, and I'm seeing your wiki at #61 right now -- so hopefully you're seeing it back, too. Google is a mysterious beast sometimes, and strange glitches can come up. There are lots of databases distributed all over the world, so when the rank changes, sometimes it takes a while for the update to travel around to all the different databases. You can see the search results one way, and a friend on the other side of the country sees them a different way, because the databases aren't in sync yet. Also, sometimes weird glitches just happen. So I wouldn't worry if you notice something weird, unless it lasts longer than a week.
I've been doing a lot of work figuring out how to make our wikis show up better in Google. I recently posted a set of suggestions on a Central forum page -- Primer in search engine optimization. Looking at your main page, I think there's some ideas there that could help you out. Do you want to take a look, and let me know what you think?
If you want to talk about it, you can just respond right here; I'll watchlist your talk page so I'll get the message. :) -- Danny (talk) 19:18, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'm not seeing the wiki at all. Around the 60s is Neoseeker's Ace Attorney Wiki, though. I suppose I'll wait and see what happens.
I read the primer and I began to wonder how I was going to make all the changes suggested in the primer. I looked at the example wikis given and everything became a lot clearer. I've redone the Main Page mostly based on the Muppet Wiki's formatting, but I'm not entirely sure about the placing of some of the sections. The random quote, for example, has been placed at the bottom, but that seems rather counterproductive for the whole point of the random quote. capefeather 21:16, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
We must be getting results from different databases right now -- I checked again, and I'm definitely seeing our wiki at #61. Let me know if you're still not seeing it in a week or so -- if there was a glitch, it should correct itself soon.
And I really like what you're doing with the main page! The portal at the top looks great. It's good for Google, and it shows off your content as soon as someone comes to the site. I agree that the random quote is pretty much out of the way right now, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a place for it. It would also be great if you had a couple paragraphs of text about the Ace Attorney series -- the origin, the variations, the creators, whatever's interesting about the history. That's another thing that's a plus both for Google and for new readers, who might like to see an overview of the topic before they dive into the details. -- Danny (talk) 21:47, September 1, 2009 (UTC)

Evidence images

Why are you making some of the evidence icons "fanmade images" (e.g. the folding screen icon)? And don't the Redd White and Misty Fey mugshots count as evidence images since they are photographs you can use as evidence in Turnabout Sisters? Strabo412 20:15, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

No, it wasn't the welcome messege.

Every single edit I did, you decided it's a purging.

What is the purging of writing the Morgan is Valerie's stepmother?

What is the purging of writing in Gavin's convesation page that his guitar looks like Gibson SG to me?

I would like you to answer those questions. 05:54, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

I suspect the "certain editor" comment may have been directed at me, for which I apologise. Unlike my last edit to the Olga Orly page, in which I put my reason for deleting something without actually deleting it (*sigh*), this time I think I made a start on the page then got distracted or something. Sorry about that.

On a completely separate note, how long do you think the released templates on the AAI pages should stay up for? Strabo412 11:08, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

I'd say maybe six months after the game has been released everywhere would be a good time to drop them - in other words, 'till July 19th. Seems like a good time to me. --Zeel1 15:08, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

I wanted to create a Redirect to the Jammin' Ninja, and figured it would be the same as my site, since most other things are. However, I realized that #REDIRECT does not work on this site. Either way, can you show me how to create them? There are just a lot that need to be made. - TheSuperZeldaMan 00:40, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Template redirects

The only reason I have for the "Template:Bluetable" and "Template:Some other page" redirects was to remove them from the "Wanted templates" and "Wanted pages" special pages respectively. Basically it was just an attempt to try and clear both pages and satisfy my O.C.D. So...yeah, sorry. I just can't stand all those red links! But in hindsight, perhaps the "Some other page" redirect went a bit too far. Feel free to delete it. Strabo412 01:20, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for offering your help!

Thank you for offering your help, but I think our holes are a bit reversed. I'm still a newbie on Phoenix Wright subjects, but I'm trying my best. I'm now replaying the first game. I'm currently on the third episode, so I'm editing a few things I'm seeing about this episode. I wanted to expand the location articles concerning this episode, but I'm not sure what or how to write. I'd like to add things like:

  • the usage of Studio Two (five years ago it was a movie set)
  • the drain where fanboys come from at the Employee Area and its use for run-throughs
  • method of entrance, either on the Main Gate or the Studio One (by key-card)

I'd be really grateful if you could help me with these things. Also, please help me with my poor English-course-knowledge to make this Wikia greater and greater! Jessica Ilha 20:11, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I'm bothering you, but I need your help. I just finished the second chapter of Turnabout Goodbyes, and so I was going to list the new evidences. However, one of the evidences changed name and description (Autopsy Report), and other changed photo (Lake Photo). What should I do about these ones? Also, I found a map of the Gourd Lake (the overhead one), which I'm going to submit soon. When I do, could you please make one of those cool maps that exists here (like the Global Studios one) or at least teach me how to do it?

You see, I already replayed the episode to jog my memory, I even got the quotes and images that I will use. But the thing is, after I planned what I was gonna write and how will the page look after that, I figured that the page will be waaaaay toooo looong. What I wanna ask is, should I write every single detail?? I wrote so far every single thing that happens in the trial(evidence, testimonys, condratictions, etc...) Fawkes and Falcon

I haven't played every game in the series, so I'm not 100% sure who Fawkes Wright and Falcon Wright are, but based on Google finding zero on these two and other heuristics (such as how they were just created a few minutes ago as of this writing), I have a sneaking suspicion that these two characters do not actually exist. I haven't been able to find the "flag for deletion" option since Wikia's last restructure, so I'm escalating to you to determine the validity of these two articles.

Just a heads-up, main page ads are being turned on for this wiki. Because of this, I've made a change to the main page in order to avoid a placement conflict between the content and the adspace. Without this change, the ad would display on top of the current content, blocking it from users. Obviously, you are welcome to make further adjustments as you see fit - this is just a "quick-fix" to avoid a visual conflict. Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions, comments, or issues. Cheers! (talk) 23:01, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

  • I'd like to propose an afflation between this Wiki, Ace Attorney, and a Wiki that needs a lot of progress, [ Ghost Trick Wiki]. It needs all the help it can get, and since it's pretty much similar to AA (after all, it's created by the same person), I think it'd be a good fit. I was going to stick Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the front page with the rest of the games, but it ended up looking a bit messy. However, it did get me to thinking that maybe the game icons on the front page could be organised into something like "Core games" (maybe with a Phoenix Wright trilogy subcategory), "Ace Attorney Investigations games", "Crossovers" and er... "Phone puzzle games"? I'm sure you get the general idea. Maybe group the "In-universe" icons under a heading with the same name as well? I was also thinking that maybe the musicals, film and manga could get icons too, even if they were just grouped together under "Other media". Just thought I'd suggest it and see what you thought. Can you edit here: I have been trying my hardest to make this wiki grow and the wiki itself is kinda a video game encyclopedia. I would really apprecaite it if you edited there because we need fans from different game series to fully expand. As of that i will edit on a wiki you have that needs help or any other wikis that you want me to edit on. Overall thank you for reading!Reviewportal77 21:20, February 18, 2012 (UTC)

hello, you removed a comment on the talk page of Pal Merteriks that I left that you took down. could you please explain the reason.

Hey Capefeather, I joined this site to raise awareness for a group called Operation Objection! on Capcom-unity forums.

This group is devoted to "convincing Capcom to localize AAI2". We currently have around 150-160 members right now... so I'm going to write up a page about the group on this wiki. If you'd like to support the group, you get do it here:

Thank you for your time,

Then care to explain why the American version say the evidence is a Guitar Pick IN BOLD LETTER?? I have the game and I finish it 2 days ago. There is a phrase call "helping out" and so I am helping out by sharing my knowledge of Lego to others. (talk) 12:17, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

Main Page / Skin Updating

Hey Capefeather, My name is Doug and I'm a member of Wikia's Community Development Team. I wanted to swing by and let you kno that I'm interested in giving this wiki a skin as well as reorganizing the main page. I wanted to let you know before I made any changes so you are aware.

Let me know if any changes are not suited to your liking and we'll work it out. Thanks!

Is it possible you could add a "Spoilers" template to the Wiki that basically says "Read at your own risk" or just something that would cover up spoilers? This Wiki has spoiled a lot for me. If possible, thanks. Josh The Biker (talk) 03:05, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Collapsible tables

Hey Capefeather. I'm trying to get collapsible tables to work on this wiki, but I seem to have hit a wall. As far as I can tell, our MediaWiki:Common.js and MediaWiki:Common.css pages need updating with the stuff on here, but as a lowly user I can't edit those pages myself. Any chance you could do it for me? Thanks in advance!- Strabo412 (talk) 16:22, March 30, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for doing that! But, unless I'm completely missing something, the tables still don't seem to work; all I'm getting is a simple table with no hide/show button. Thoughts? Or are you already aware and I'm just pestering your good self? - Strabo412 (talk) 20:53, April 2, 2013 (UTC)
Template:RandomQuoteLong is also now showing two show/hide buttons since your edits to Common.js and Common.css. - Strabo412 (talk) 14:08, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Capefeather!

Firstly, it's a great pleasure for me to be here! I was just wondering if I could re-create the present templates? I'll try out something in my sandbox, and let you know about it!

Regards, Phoenix Wright or Wrong? 15:15, May 22, 2013 (UTC)

Done. I have finished with my work. Here : Have a look! I've NOT added the parser functions as of now, but I will probably add them later on.

Hello again, Capefeather! I wanted to discuss something important with you. I want to ask if navigation templates are to be implemented in this wiki or not? You know, Navigation templates?

Phoenix Wright or Wrong? 11:21, May 27, 2013 (UTC)

There are navboxes on this wiki, yes. capefeather (talk) 23:50, May 27, 2013 (UTC)

So, shall they be created? They are quite useful! (Edit : Thought of reminding you) Shall Navboxes be created?

Phoenix Wright or Wrong? 08:53, May 28, 2013 (UTC)

There already are navboxes. capefeather (talk) 18:26, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Oops, sorry misread it. So, there are already navboxes, where are they and why are they not used in the articles?

Phoenix Wright or Wrong? 07:24, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

They are used in articles. I feel like we're talking about different things... capefeather (talk) 15:58, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

I can't find them anywhere in articles. They should have been before/after the Reference section. Hmm, as of it, I'm talking about these : Navigation Templates

Edit : Also, um.. can I ask you something? Do you think these picture attributions should be there? I mean, yes, they do credit the user, but they partially ruin the caption. Phoenix Wright or Wrong? 21:59, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

I hope you don't mind me interjecting, but I believe Template:Episodes is the sort of thing you two are talking about here. - Strabo412 (talk) 11:48, June 2, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, indeed yes. I'm talking about that. But there's only one for Episodes? Why not main protagonists, antagonists, defense attorneys, prosecutors, victims etc...?

A little mistake found on this wiki

Hi!!!!I'm not sure if it's you whom I shoul contac abou this, but here it goes: in Godot's page, when they talk abou the interpretation on the name there's one that's seriously wrong, wich is the one that says that "diego" is a diminutive of "santiago", and then goes off interpretating stuff. The truth is that they are both different names, and each one has it's own diminituve. I can assure you, it's like that, after all i'm south american. It's sound this ridiculous: "Since 'paul' is a diminutive of 'william'" Not related. At all.

It's juts that :) the wiki is greath though!!!

I was the one who put that in, and this seems fair enough. I was really just going off this to be honest... - Strabo412 (talk) 17:53, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

Another innovation!

Hello Capefeather! Long time no see. I'm glad that the character template is fixed now. It looks really great, even better than mine! Now, I have one more concern regarding the wiki : the Main Page. I don't know if I can say this or not, but it seems pretty "dull", in contrast with the present templates. So, I had this idea for a template, which works on the principle of "background-images", and is more like the series. You can always have a view at my sandbox in the InaIre wiki (wait for the page to fully load to see the effects; if the page is not loaded, the effects would not be visible). It has the main template which I built using CSS. The main reason I could not do it here, was because that this wiki does not allows CSS to configured at the user-level (whereas that wiki does). It would have been impossible for me to create this template here, but I tried my best in the InaIre wiki. The template uses an image, which is put in the background, so that the text could be altered without any major configurations. Tri-braces are of huge help here, so this template is indeed pretty handy. If you're worrying about the length of the header, I can extend it, so that it fits to a normal article column. I will be needing your agreement for this, and of course then, your help with all the MediaWiki work! I hope this will be one useful template!

Separation in Sprites

I just noticed that the sprites... in major (and some minor) characters are a lot in pages. This is just a minor suggestion but... what if there's a separate page for it? We could use a tab template and link it to the original page?

By the way, an example:

What do you think? ~(AdventureWriter28)~~(Talk)~~(Edit Count)~

Why do articles have a space at the beginning, it doesn't look nice to say the least. If that's the way you want it, then I'll leave it. If you want me to remove all the spaces, I'll be happy to do so. Anyways, love Ace Attorney! User:InSaiyan

Projects for the wiki

Hello Capefeather! It seems that you didn't notice my previous message about the wiki. But anyways, I'll just repeat myself, since I saw you edit just now. You could just read that message or have a look at this page for the two projects which I had in mind for the Main Page of the wiki.

Hello Capefeather!

I need to start editing my profile first. I would like to ask how to make something like the box thingy where you put the photo of the character, the badge (If I were to put defense attorney badge, prosecutor badge or judge badge)then the biological information and leitmotif and so on. I hope you will send the full information on it. Thank you!

Needing Mp3's or no?

Hi there, I notice that this wiki doesn't have any MP3's for the music of the Ace Attorney games. The Kirby wiki has MP3 for their tunes over there, so should there be something like a mini media player that viewers can hear the music from? Since I don't wanna upload unnecessary pictures onto this wiki, I'll give you a link to look at (scroll down):

Kirby Wiki's Gourmet Race page

New Seeker (talk) 14:44, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

All media are in a legal gray area. Images tend to be fine in practice, but videos and music are less so. I know some wikis give samples of music tracks, which I think may be the most appropriate way to go if this happens. capefeather (talk) 18:33, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Capefeather,

I tried to make a table where you put stuff like age, height, leitmotif, etc. Didn't work, pal. So I'll ask you one thing: How. I know I edited parts like that, but I only placed the family, friends, and affiliates. (By that, I mean, in my profile, I placed family, friends, and affiliates.)

I hope to see your other works again,

Main Page

Hello Capefeather! Remember about my previous projects for the wiki's Main Page? Well, I spent some more time in creating an other project, regarding the main portals, which display the main characters. An example of such portal section could be found in this sandbox. I hope you approve this work of mine.

More GK 2 questions

I figured since this question is more general, I may as well just ask you directly. As you had said, it's a better idea to leave the progress of the fan translation away from the game's main article until it's finished, which makes sense. Then a thought occurred to me (while playing said translation). What would be your stance on the names for the characters that the translators used, even if only used as redirects (Nicole Swift, Ethan Rooke, Horace Knightly, etc.)? Schiffy (T|C) 01:37, September 22, 2013 (UTC)

Redirects are probably a good idea. capefeather (talk) 21:20, September 22, 2013 (UTC)
Alright, I went and made the ones that I've found up to the point I got to in case 2 (meeting Ichiyanagi/Debeste). If any others are unadded before I find the names, I'll add them. Schiffy (T|C) 01:22, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

Whenever you leave feedback regarding my edits sometimes...

No offense, but I feel personally offended at times. I don't know if this is the way you really talk in real life just as you are to talk the same way on the internet, but I'm, just, really upset. It's just my opinion, but maybe you could provide feedback with better word choices rather than be unkindly (if that wasn't intentional). Please, I just want to feel welcomed by the community on here, not be affected by mean words like I've had on a forum. This is just a personal opinion and I don't mean to offend you in any way.

New Seeker (talk) 01:47, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry I made you feel that way. In terms of the "Guilty Love" thing, I think I should have just said I wanted to move the content to the song's page rather than have it on Klavier's page. I was probably also hasty to say it was "wrong" (though "Surging Eyes" still is another carried-over track). It's hard to verify stuff like that, and maybe there are even more tracks that both of us missed. So I'm sorry for any negative impressions you got from my editing comments. capefeather (talk) 04:27, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

In Ace Attourney Investigations Miles Edgeworth, The Kidnapped Turnabout, in the stadium I found a sign that says Troupe Gramarye, and the stage backdrop kind of looks like Klavier Gavin's necklace, here is the URL for the video I found, . Redirect template

Might I suggest adding a template for redirected pages? I know of at least one other Wikia wiki that uses them and I think it might help with clarity and convenience. SunBeater3K =talk= 17:26, November 23, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure of what you're asking for. Are you talking about soft redirects? capefeather (talk) 21:07, November 23, 2013 (UTC)
Um, let me try explaining. For example, the Simon Blackquill page has italicized text on top explaining that both "Simon" and "Blackquill" redirect to that particular article, and if you're looking for other articles with those names, go here or here. I'm saying instead of that italicized text, you can have a template box on top where you fill in what redirects to the page, and the other articles the reader might be looking for.
Sorry if the explanation is confusing. Here, the yellow box on top of this page on another Wikia wiki is what I'm referring to. SunBeater3K =talk= 04:38, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

Removing unnecessary parts of discussion from talk pages

Me and CrashBash got into an argument on these three talk pages. Now, having viewed it as pretty unnecessary at the current point in time, I was wondering whether you could give permission to remove that conversation, or do so yourself, if it is required.

Conversation we held there, however, is relevant, but can be easily continued here and here Sligneris (talk) 18:20, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

Likewise, since things seem to have settled, and we're not exactly holding any grudges, as far as I can see. CrashBash (talk) 18:49, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

Can you please have a word with this user? Not being allowed to include an edit they made (that is clearly wrong) has clearly upset them and they're now spewing forth insults and such. Can you please try and calm them down?

Please, do something right now!! CrashBash (talk) 18:47, January 29, 2014 (UTC)

User Report: CrashBash

I'd like to report user CrashBash on the basis of repeatedly:

  • Undoing other people's edits. The edits while could be incorrect, were not vandalism.
  • Removing and editing other users's posts from talk pages.
  • Making edits to other people's user pages.

While there is reasoning to be applied behind the last one, it is still not really something to be enforced by a regular user like him... The pages in question are Pursuit, Reminiscence, Talk:Reminiscence, User talk:CrashBash.

I apologize for bringing up the previous arguments, however it should be mentioned here.

There is also a problem with the edit war between CrashBash and Jeandeve, regarding the latter's user page and talk page. Their owner insists on removing both completely, while CrashBash keeps undoing his edits. It really needs an intervention. Sligneris (talk) 19:37, January 29, 2014 (UTC)

I have not made any edits to other people's user pages other than doing what I thought was the general rule of the wikia, namely that user pages and talk pages could NOT be deleted. Don't blame me for what I assumed was common knowledge on wikias, please. And, once again, the whole "Von Karma whipping" thing was not ONLY edited by me, but CF himself also removed them. As did Strabo. CrashBash (talk) 20:01, January 29, 2014 (UTC)
I never saw either Strabo or Capefeather participite in edit wars, if you ask me about it. Well, you could have thought it is general rule to the wikia, but even if it is, enforcing it by yourself is not really the greatest idea. Sligneris (talk) 20:09, January 29, 2014 (UTC)
Well, I'm sorry, I did try and get their attention, but it seemed I was the only one there, and Jean simply refused to listen to me, no matter how polite I was trying to be. If they hadn't burst out with profanities and insults, and perhaps just taken into consideration what I said, this wouldn't have happened. CrashBash (talk) 20:18, January 29, 2014 (UTC)

What's the format?

I wanna create a couple of character pages, but i dunno if there's a certain code to be used for the template or whatever? I'm kinda lost on what to input in the source mode. Can you teach me? New Seeker (talk) 00:26, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Admin stuff

Hey Capefeather, I was wondering if you could do a couple of wee things only someone with admin abilities can do? The first is a clear out of the candidates for deletion, which hasn't been done in a while. The other thing is that I was thinking that we could do with a change to the wiki background and logo, as the former is a little bit wonky in my opinion, and the latter is a bit out of date. Unless you had any thoughts, I was going to suggest this for the background and Media:Ace-attorney series.png for the logo. Again, just my thoughts. - Strabo412 (talk) 21:09, February 25, 2014 (UTC)

*poke* - Strabo412 (talk) 22:59, March 4, 2014 (UTC)
Any thoughts on changing the wiki background and/or logo? Or is it more trouble than it's worth? - Strabo412 (talk) 21:17, May 2, 2014 (UTC)

Apparently the maximum file size is 300 KB. I don't know how the uploader of the current background got the file size down so much, but even after using PNG Crush on the bombed courtroom pic, it's still a MB... capefeather (talk) 02:40, May 3, 2014 (UTC)

Also as far as I know, the wordmark/logo pretty much has to be 250 x 65. capefeather (talk) 02:43, May 3, 2014 (UTC)

Well the current Wiki-background image is a jpeg file, so that probably helps. I just saved the bombed court image as a jpg file instead, and that brought the file size down to 108 KB.
With the size restrictions, the option for the workmark that I suggested doesn't really work. It would really have to be something like the current iteration that is wider than it is tall. Hmmm... - Strabo412 (talk) 11:18, May 3, 2014 (UTC)
Are we going to have this new logo and background in the near future? ^^ - Sligneris (talk) 15:47, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

I don't think the bombed courtroom would really work as a background. The background only appears as two slices to either side, so it would only show parts of the gallery. The person who made the current background evidently knew what he/she was doing... Also, like I said before, the wordmark has to have specific dimensions. I agree that it perhaps needs to be changed, and I'm bumping some ideas around. The key thing for me is that GK2, PLvPW, DD and DGS are all currently relevant right now. capefeather (talk) 16:55, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

How about making the main body a bit transparent, so the some part of the courtroom would be seen? We could also go around implementing horizontal lines over the body, reminiscent of the bottom screen graphics present throughout the series. - Sligneris (talk) 17:20, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Is there an example of a wiki where that works well? Having background behind the text and stuff sounds like it would introduce readability problems. capefeather (talk) 17:24, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

I believe Professor Layton Wiki to be a valid example. Either way, I think that even if we don't go implementing transparency, the two courtroom galleries would still be better as the background to the wiki than random, low quality scans of mostly one-off characters mashed up together... - Sligneris (talk) 17:31, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

It doesn't look bad per se, but it does need scaling up. I raised the size up to 2048x1227. - Sligneris (talk) 18:18, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Uh... Is the upscaled background going to get uploaded? Perhaps the current background looks fine on the lower resolutions, but it doesn't present itself all that well on 1920x1080 resolution... - Sligneris (talk) 18:40, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

The upscaled background is too big. Due to the 300 KB limit on backgrounds, I have to save these images as jpg and even then the upscaled image is 463 KB. Maybe if we just not tile the image? capefeather (talk) 20:15, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Huh? I was pretty sure it was below 300 KB... Try again, with the same link, I'm certain it's exactly 299 KB now. Sligneris (talk) 20:21, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Well, that's a progress, but still... What exactly happened with the middle of the site? o-0 Maybe try using same settings you did earlier with the non-upscaled background...? - Sligneris (talk) 20:42, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Middle? I'm not sure I get what you mean. capefeather (talk) 20:53, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Right now, instead of seeing the whole image, it gets divided into two parts, at least in my case. It didn't really happen with the smaller image, even though I still didn't like having 6 of those on one screen back then... hm. - Sligneris (talk) 20:57, May 20, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, also, whenever I reduce the size of the window, the background image disappears altogether and instead I see the regular, single-colored background. - Sligneris (talk) 21:11, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Hi Capefeather! Listen, I'm asking for a favor. I recently started a wiki for the new reboot of Shadow Warrior because, for some really stupid reason, there wasn't one already made. I was working on it, and I got a notification from the "Ace Attorney" wiki. When I saw your list of edits, I was amazed! If you could help me with this, that would be really great! You don't have to help me if you haven't played it, but thanks anyway if you don't choose to help me. Lates.

im happy i wasnt the only one reverting vandalism tonight. :) if you want to block the IP addresses of these vandals that ive found so far, here you go.

Ravenclaw Prefect 02:56, July 24, 2014 (UTC)

I think they're trying to change their IPs - be forewarned. I've found their tumblr blogs and it looks like it's a group coordinating the attack.

^ well, isn't that something. cant say im surprised though. haha.

  • sigh* Okay found this from the reblogs of that blog. My, my... The humanity stooped so low, really. - Sligneris (talk) 10:31, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

Uhh... that's nice and all, but I don't see much evidence of a co-ordinated "attack" on the first tumblr post. In fact, what is that, Capefeather's account where they just post "I banned you" or them making fun of Capefeather? I honestly don't get that. And if that makes me stupid, so be it. - Spyromed (talk) 13:28, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

The author of the blog I linked to themselves talks about how they vandalized the wiki for fun, so I think you just didn't really check the link I gave myself. - Sligneris (talk) 19:35, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

Ace Attorney v Professor Layton Updates/Cross Promotions

Hey there Capefeather! My name is Doug from Wikia's Community Development Team. With the upcoming English release of the Professor Layton/Ace Attorney crossover game, I wanted to stop in and ask if you needed any help with updating the wiki with contents from the game.

I also wanted to stop in and ask whether you'd be interested in setting up a cross promotion with the Professor Layton wiki, we can draft up an image you can embed on your mainpage that links to their wiki, and do the same with your wiki on theirs. Perhaps we can draft up a small mainpage portal of the game that both wikis share for the game.

Let me know if any of these ideas sound good to you, or if you need help around your wiki with the release of the game. I'll be happy to help! Thanks and have a good one! : > TheBlueRogue •(profile)•(talk)•( 19:10, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, a cross-promotion sounds like a great idea. There's been some progress already on this wiki due to people having the European/Australian releases, but there's always room for improvement. capefeather (talk) 22:10, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
When this game happens in the history of Ace Attorney is confusing not even fans of Layton knows.  Gave me a headache trying to put that in the timeline.Delectro (talk) 23:35, September 4, 2014 (UTC)D'lectro ps. sorry for that mess.

How do I remove categories?

I accidentaly put an incorrect category on a page, and I don't know how to remove it. I know this question sounds stupid / derpy, but I really don't know how. 03:01, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

If it's the very last edit you did, just undo it. If not, check the category list on the right side of the page and click the bin icon to remove it. It's really not that hard. CrashBash (talk) 07:46, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

More admins?

Can you make more users admins on this wiki? 23:38, September 23, 2014 (UTC)

Seriously, no response!? It's been a week since I've asked and you still haven't responded!? *sigh...* 02:53, September 30, 2014 (UTC)

Ok, Capefeather, this is the 3rd time I've asked. Will you get more admins on this wiki. I don't care if you say no, just answer my question. It's already been at least two weeks since I first asked. 😠 02:25, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

Uploading files

Hi, cape. I've seen the files added here are nicely sorted with categories and all. So, I was wondering if we could use a better upload form, like the Narutopedia. I could write a script for it if you'd like. The form would auto-add categories, and the required data. -- sqm 07:28, 10.01.2014

Also, could you check out User:Fubuki風吹/sandbox (this specifically)? -- sqm 07:29, 10.01.2014
I guess I'll have to find out where the upload form is, but sure. capefeather (talk) 03:23, October 2, 2014 (UTC)
Alright, here's a mock version of the script I originally created once. It's basic, and relies on a template. I still need to add the "official artwork" checkbox and some other minor details. Make sure to try it (feel free to upload any sort of image to that wiki), and tell me if it needs anything. -- sqm 17:32, 10.02.2014

Teh Meme Wiki could use some help

Can you get some users to help [Meme Wiki]? It is still very puny and needs serious expansion (Note: Some pages contain offensive content, so be careful out there). PS. Please don't ignore this for a month like you did with my admin/ moderator request. 😒 02:13, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

An unconstructive editor

Hello, since you are an admin, I thought this should be brought to your attention; there has been an unconstructive editor, User:MayasOniiChan, vandalizing pages recently. He just messes characters' family member lists up in a weird way. LinuxKirby (talk) 18:53, October 30, 2014 (UTC)

My thoughts

Did you lock Godot from being edited? Cause if you did I'm kind of mad at you.

A) for taking away my rright of free speech

B) For punishing the wiki for what I alone did. I'd rather you ban me than take it out on the community (not that I want to be banned for doing what is mathmatically right).

I'm sorry I insulted you. And you can read all about it in Godot's page but again don't take it out on them.

And before I post i got to say: If you didn't do this than can you fix it so that they have the option to edit his page once more.

And to the wiki: I'm sorry about this I didn't think that would be an option. I did not think that was even a consequence. Please forgive me for taking that right away. Franzyfan1998 (talk) 23:27, November 2, 2014 (UTC)

I really would have preferred not to do anything, but I just knew that the edit warring had to stop and there were two ways of doing that. I'd rather protect a page than block a regular user. capefeather (talk) 23:38, November 2, 2014 (UTC)
Well now I got a whole Wiki mad at me so now I have to feel guilty. 'm grateful that you don't take banning lightly though.
However could you please give them back their right to edit ? I'm not having them suffer for my sinsFranzyfan1998 (talk) 23:51, November 2, 2014 (UTC)

My thoughts Pt. 2

Listen up, Capefeather, you need to stop abusing your admin powers! You blocked a page from editing because Franzyfan and I made an edit to it. I read what Franzyfan said to you, and yes, I know s/he apologized to you, but still, you blocked everyone from editing this page all because we made an argument against your claim! Remove the block right now, and one more thing, STOP IGNORING MY MESSAGES! This is getting annoying and I am sick of it! You're acting like I don't exist! In conclusion, I think you're abusing your admin powers a little. I know I am basically doing the insane by bursting out at you, but I'm ready to accept any punishment you give me. If you have any objections, let me know on either of our talk pages. 03:28, November 3, 2014 (UTC)

"stop abusing"
Look, I ignore you because I find you being overly dramatic about these things. I just feel like I have better things to do than to address the kinds of requests you've made. I mean, does it matter that much whether there are other admins? Are talk pages really the appropriate avenue to advertise other wikis that are unrelated to this one? And does protecting a page temporarily really constitute abuse? I took that decision very seriously and I looked over Wikipedia policy on edit warring before doing it. It's a huge deal to protect a page, especially if I'm involved. But the policy has been established, and the appropriate avenue for the dispute was to challenge that policy itself. I suppose having at least another admin could help in such situations as far as impartiality and perceptions of impartiality go. But the argument was about a matter that had already more or less been settled (the bulk of the controversy was over which birth years to display). capefeather (talk) 03:58, November 3, 2014 (UTC)
"Overly dramatic!?"
Now I have 3 questions for you:
1) How am I being dramatic?
2) Why didn't you say I was being "dramatic" earlier? I wouldn't have gotten mad at you if you actually said something
3) What are you trying to accomplish by doing this?
If you want to permaban me, then fine, go all out on me, but I swear I'm not trying to hurt anyone. 04:07, November 3, 2014 (UTC)
Then, pardon me for saying this, why do you keep creating silly little articles on your user-page pointing out how "evil" everyone on this wiki is? I specifically asked you to remove mine, yet you refused to do that, forcing me to do so myself, and then I find you created one in response to Cape. I would personally call that "being dramatic", and frankly, "being childish". CrashBash (talk) 21:49, November 3, 2014 (UTC)
Once again, CrashBash. Don't edit other user's profiles. I am deeply sorry for making everyone look like jerks on my profile, and I will stop adding mean comments about everyone, but even then, you still have absolutely zero right to edit my profile. This is exactly why some people don't like you. Please try to be more sociable and kind to others and definitely respect their personal space. Also, please stop calling people childish or immature. 22:34, November 3, 2014 (UTC)
Also, I didn't refuse to undo that edit about you, I just didn't undo enough. There's a big difference. 22:36, November 3, 2014 (UTC)
No offence, but you kinda WERE being childish and immature, in part simply by creating those comments. But, if you promise to stop, which you have, then I'll withdraw my statement. CrashBash (talk) 00:08, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
I'll promise to stop, but only if you agree to the following:
1) Stop editing other user's profiles. If you find a profile insulting, report it to an admin, but don't edit it yourself.
2) Be more kind to other users. I know you are not intentionally being rude, but some users will take some of your behavior as an insult.
3) Don't undo edits because you don't trust the timeline. I know it's messy and unstable, but it's all we have.
Thank you. 01:43, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
1-I wish I could, but the admins never do anything. Besides, it's common sense not to be insultive.
2-I am kind to other users, provided they deserve it. I still don't understand why you were desperately defending that troll who didn't deserve it.
3-You're mistaken. It's not the timeline I don't trust, it's the people bickering about it I don't trust. CrashBash (talk) 06:57, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

About spoilers

Hello! I've recently been editing the Miles Edgeworth manga page (seeing that there is a frustrating lack of content on there), and as I broaden the summaries for each chapter, I was wondering if it was okay to put spoilers on there. I feel it is important to include the perp of the murder. I'm not sure if there is a way to maybe hide spoilers or give a warning, but it would be great if I'm given the okay to just tippity type to my heart's desire. I do own the english mangas, so I've got all the content right here.

Cftcft9090 (talk) 01:43, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, be complete with the summaries. Spoilers are a concern, but completeness is more important and there's a global spoiler warning on the main page. capefeather (talk) 02:34, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, cape. So, while wandering over the transcript pages, I had a thought that we might require some flexible templates for them. I've tried something in my personal space, and I'd want to hear your opinion on this matter. I'm just as fine even if we stick to the current method. And, don't mind the shades of grey; they're just temporary placeholders. I'd replace them as soon as I get some better ideas. Cheers, sqm 08:50, 11.24.2014

I think that someone would need to actually make strong progress on the transcripts before we decide on how to format it. My concern is that the fastest way is probably for someone to extract the scripts from the ROMs, and the scripting required for such extractions would depend on the formatting. capefeather (talk) 00:50, November 29, 2014 (UTC)
Point noted. I'll try and find out more on extracting, since I've had some similar experience in the past. Cheers, sqm 07:11, 11.29.2014

Leitmotif Page

Hello! Um. I was just wondering if it was alright to start-up a Leimotif page to keep up with the characters/case etc leitmotifs in the series. I saw that some of them already have their own pages, but considering the sheer abundance of characters and such, I thought it would be best if there was just one large page. It could be separated by game/case/character as well in a neat little table. It'd also be nice if there were links to the music as well. I don't mind working on it myself, I just wanted to ask information before I did, considering the size of the wikia. Monenlaisia (talk) 17:57, November 28, 2014 (UTC)

I suppose we could use a page for a list of character themes. It seems like a reasonable class of music tracks to make a page for, analogous to "Reminiscing". capefeather (talk) 00:50, November 29, 2014 (UTC)

But how come the sprites are still not working? They are not animated anymore. They are stuck in their stance and pose! Please help! 08:56, January 2, 2015 (UTC)Miles

Although a wee little out of date, Ace Attorney Wiki:Things to do is one place to go. Pages labelled as being in need of expansion or that are just very short could also be looked at. If you are not up-to-date with the series, please be warned that many articles will contain unmarked spoilers, so I would consider finishing the other games first if being spoiled matters to you. Also please sign future talk page posts with four "~"s - Strabo412 (talk) 23:25, March 3, 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Could you state your opinion regarding this? This is the second time it has been brought up and your opinion would be appreciated. On a somewhat related note, you could just say a straightforward "no" to things you don't support, instead of ignoring messages. You've ignored many of my messages on numerous occasions. You could've just said "no"; I wouldn't have bothered. -- sqm 22:13, 03.10.2015

Quote template

Hi. I hope you won't mind me editing the Module namespace. I'm planning to convert our present quote template to Lua for better performance and technical efficiency. It could also be redone, if it's alright with you? -- sqm 21:45, 03.30.2015

Yeah, it's been weird for a while now. I was considering at least reverting to the older version anyway just because linking actually worked properly with it, but if you have something in mind then go for it. capefeather (talk) 15:38, March 31, 2015 (UTC)
Okay, here's what I've made so far. Here's the module and you can see it in action here. I've tried to match the theme of the textboxes from the game by adding some transparency. The colors should not be an issue; they can be customized anytime if they're appear too contrasting with the background. The module is not complete for now. It can't be invoked inside templates for transclusion. I'll have to modify it a bit for the invoke to work within templates, but I'll do that when I get your approval. Thoughts? -- sqm 09:49, 04.01.2015

Hey Capefeather how do you delete a page from a wiki? It has nothing to do with this wiki but on one of the wikis I used to edit someone created a page about a character that is not canon to that show or even remotely mentioned/related. I got the content deleted but the actual page no.

Now if you don't know that's ok buy I figured you would be my best shot of getting the answer. K thanks!Franzyfan1998 (talk) 18:04, June 30, 2015 (UTC)

You have to be an admin to delete pages. capefeather (talk) 18:05, June 30, 2015 (UTC)
That I am not. I don't even know if we have one. Well thanks anyway.Franzyfan1998 (talk) 18:18, June 30, 2015 (UTC)
You can go to the wiki's Special:ListUsers to find users and the groups they're in. I don't know offhand all of the groups that can delete, but administrators, bureaucrats and Wikia staff are among them. Maybe the wiki also has a Template:Delete? Every wiki I've been to has one. capefeather (talk) 18:35, June 30, 2015 (UTC)

Hey. I saw you added the randomizer, but you've not submitted it for review yet. You can do that here. Basically, any javascript that's added now needs to be reviewed by the staff before it's made public.

Also, I was thinking about using something like this (source) to give a welcome and a general spoiler warning (upto three times) to new visitors, so that stuff like this doesn't happen again. Sure, there's a spoiler alert on the main page, but it's not very effective as far as I can see. - slyst (talk) 02:35, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

Possible New Trivia About Redd White of Bluecorp

(I'm completely new here, so please forgive me if I'm going about this wrong)

Redd White of Bluecorp is the true murderer in the second case of Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright. The company can also be referred to as Bluecorp's when not using the Inc. abbreviation. Now, try saying "corp's" a few times.

What happens after someone dies later on? Their body turns blue: Blue Corpse.

I believe this is yet another clever hidden message that Ace Attorney has given us.

And I have evidence to back up my claim:

I really doubt that that was an intentional reading of the name. capefeather (talk) 00:19, May 29, 2016 (UTC)

The Imprisoned Turnabout Notes edit (contradiction)

I believe that you are not right, Hōinbō did know it was a chisel, and he says so plainly himself in his testimony at the end of End, Part 1. If you don't believe me, here's the screenshots ( He couldn't have known it was a chisel without touching it. Only the dog interacted with the murder weapon.

I went back to that part of the case, and yes, I was mistaken about what happened with the chisel. A few pages will have to be edited... That said, he didn't necessarily have to touch the chisel to find out what it was. If I'm remembering this correctly, the chisel had to be hidden somewhere other than the dog's mouth between Edgeworth's examination of the body and the police search for the murder weapon. The dog probably set it down somewhere during that time, and Hōinbō heard the sound of that happening and determined that it was not a knife but a chisel. capefeather (talk) 20:13, May 31, 2016 (UTC)

Spammer notification

Hello, I apologize in advance if I'm breaking any rule (I'm relatively new here), but I'd like to notify you about user Massi.Acromio who keeps removing messages from his talk page and spamming in the 'Recent Wiki activity' section with unnecessary edits. CrashBash seems to be willing to warn him but in fact he ends up just doing the same - spamming and making pointless edits instead of reporting the offender right away. 21:18, August 31, 2016 (UTC)

I was actually about to do that, but I do try to give people the benefit of the doubt CrashBash (talk) 21:28, August 31, 2016 (UTC)

About Crunchyroll's subs

While I agree they are not always accurate, I'd still argue with mentioning the name "Celeste Andrews" being used, because (while I'd have to go back and double-check), I believe the voice actors use the name "Kamiya Yurie", instead of "Amano Yurie", coinciding with A1 Studios' change. Schiffy (T|C) 21:23, September 20, 2016 (UTC)

That's true, but using a name that only exists in subtitles still seems wrong to me. capefeather (talk) 00:50, September 21, 2016 (UTC)

Ace Attorney Investigations - French Fan Translation

Hi there. I'm not quite sure who I should approach for this, but no one answered on the Gyakuten Kenji 2 page so I figured I'd try asking an admin.

I discovered an ongoing project to translate Ace Attorney Investigations and its sequel French translation here. Since the French localization is the one that most commonly changes the names (Ex: Lotta Hart -> Eva Cozésouci, or Miles Edgeworth -> Benjamin Hunter), I wondered if there was a possibility of expanding the |gk2= box to include other fan translation names. I was thinking of something that would look like this:

Ex: (French names taken from here (AAI) and here (AAI2).)

Calisto Yew:

  • Caliste Éria (in the unofficial French fan patch)

Manosuke Naitō:

  • Horace Knightley (in the unofficial English fan patch)
  • Carl Valier (in the unofficial French fan patch)

Of course, the tab would likely not be named |gk2 anymore, since it would no longer cover only the second AAI game.

It's not an issue for AAI2 just yet other than a few characters (most of the AAI2 cast from the voice casting page only have provisionary names), but it will be an issue pretty soon. The only case left for AAI is Turnabout Ablaze, but they're pretty much just finishing it up now, checking for bugs and typos, and they've already started work on AAI2. The names for the first game are pretty much all translated, and the model would be similar to that of the "English Name" tab that uses the |gk2= coding. Is this possible to make, or is that form restricted to the English fan translation names?

Aeliren (talk) 16:58, October 22, 2016 (UTC)

It's been almost half a month since I posted, so I figured I'd check in. I understand that you're likely busy with other things and so my message probably just slipped through, but I'd still like to know what the course of action to take for this would be, since the names of the English fan translation are noted at some point on the pages even if they aren't official. Should the same be done with the French fan translations?

A couple of things

Hey Capefeather, hope all's well with you! Just wanted to ask you a couple of things while I remember. I know you can be quite bad at replying sometimes, so I'll be back in a week if I don't hear from you! :P

  1. There's an ongoing discussion regarding character categories, particularly with respect to deleting "Minor characters" and moving the articles within over to "Characters" along with "Animals". I thought it might be good to get your input if you have a chance, especially since it was you who made "Minor characters" way back when.
  2. I'd like to request a clear-out of candidates for deletion, please!
  3. I see you quite often have people asking you things on your talk page, only for them to never get a reply. I apologise in advance if this comes across as cheeky or rude (especially since I'm definitely guilty of that too), but perhaps maybe another admin might be something worthwhile thinking about to act as an alternative port of call for questions, dealing with vandals, and the like? To be honest though, I'd be fine with things as they are at the moment, but, as I say, maybe something to think about? - Strabo412 (talk) 21:42, November 28, 2016 (UTC)
Even a clear-out of the candidates for deletion would be appreciated. - Strabo412 (talk) 20:33, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

Adaptation changes

I was wondering, since we are listing the changes the anime made to the first two games of the series in the Case articles themselves, do you think we should do the same with the movieFranzyfan1998 (talk) 21:49, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

Probably. capefeather (talk) 21:57, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

Hey... uh, I'm not exactly sure how this is going to work, but I think there's a spelling error in the "Bridge to the Turnabout " transcript page Part 2. I found it when Franzy and Phoenix discuss the locked Sacred Cavern door, it says "...locks andchains..." I did look at the game's info on it when playing through it, and it was spelled correctly. Hopefully this works, and attempting tp edit it was a monster... If this works, thanks!!

Collapsible templates

Yo, Cape. Firstly, let me say that you've been doing an excellent job with the case articles for Spirit of Justice. The Magical Turnabout looks amazing now; all it needs is a little cleanup in the references to popular culture section and it'll be featured article material. Still, I'm curious, is there a reason why you used second-level headings for chapter titles in The Foreign Turnabout instead of the third-level headings you used in other articles? It looks a bit inconsistent that way.

Anyway, that's not the main point of my message. I apologize for repeatedly pestering you with these template things, but what do you think of changing Template:Cleanup and Template:Expand so they are non-collapsed by default? I think viewers often choose to ignore collapsed templates or sections and this might leave them oblivious to where an article needs improvement when they could have easily helped with it otherwise. I really think this change would encourage more editing from people who read the articles but don't really get involved with the inner workings of the wiki, so to speak. Even if you don't like the idea, maybe we could do a temporary test run to see if causes an increase in contributions? Bluebully (talk) 16:24, September 20, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I think we could try that. I seem to recall people in the past being concerned about some notices taking up too much space and that was why most of them were made collapsible, but maybe in this case it's fine. As for The Foreign Turnabout, the sections were just a result of the episode only consisting of one trial "act". I'm still trying to work out how to handle these sections exactly... capefeather (talk) 18:31, September 20, 2017 (UTC)

Gallery pages

Though I had been the one to introduce gallery templates by porting them from Danganronpa Wiki, nowadays I've been thinking... Wouldn't it be perhaps be better to change the format?

Rather than Phoenix Wright - Image Gallery, I'm thinking that Phoenix Wright/Image gallery would have worked better, more consistent with how other pages are typically named.

Granted, it'd take alterning over 500 pages... So maybe it's a little late to suggest this. But just throwing it out there, I guess. - Sligneris (talk) 15:35, September 24, 2017 (UTC)

Why don't you just ban the user MysticMedium?

They're clearly not here to contribute, since all they've done is add spam. Why don't you just ban them? CrashBash (talk) 15:58, September 25, 2017 (UTC)

Possible innacuracy?

(I'm new to the wiki, I want a second opinion before I make the edit.) on this page, it's stated (In the Notes section) that Dee Vasquez is the first antagonist in the series to commit manslaughter instead of murder.

However, this may be innacurate.

To my understanding, manslaughter is when a life is unlawfully taken by someone who had no intent or plan to kill.

Frank Sahwit from two cases earlier grabbed the statue on instinct and didn't mean to kill Cindy. So doesn't that mean that he commited manslaughter, making him the first antagonist in the series to commit manslaughter instead of murder?

If my understanding is accurate, that page has incorrect information. KarpToEndAllKarps (talk) 01:49, October 15, 2017 (UTC)

Sometimes I feel like the wiki perhaps shouldn't attempt to make a distinction between murder and manslaughter. The distinctions can be very subtle in real life law (which is generally why homicide cases go to trial in real life) and we often don't get enough about the culprit's mental state to be really sure. capefeather (talk) 02:14, October 15, 2017 (UTC)
From my understanding, what Sahwit did would most likely count as voluntary manslaughter. Voluntary manslaughter is one of the two main types of manslaughter, and is described as the killing of one person by another, when the killer acted in the "heat of passion", with no prior intent to kill, under circumstances in which it is considered that any reasonable person would have become disturbed enough that they wouldn't have been able to reasonably control their emotions. The way it's worded in the episode implies that Sahwit acted under circumstances like those. Although whether the "circumstances" under which Sahwit got "disturbed"  was that his victim caught him in the middle of burgling her apartment, actually counts as a situation where a "reasonable person can't be expected to control their emotions" or not, I don't know. This kinda thing is fraught with technicalities. 2A02:C7F:3A2B:3B00:10B9:F8FF:3F1E:2400 15:37, October 16, 2017 (UTC)

Proposed edit

(I don't know how to link to pages, and I'm not sure whether this is neccesary)

On the pages for the DL-6 and SL-9 incidents, should we put an infobox at the top linking to the page for Reminescence, which contains the songs named for these incidents?

KarpToEndAllKarps (talk) 16:18, November 20, 2017 (UTC)

Do you mean a note saying "You may be looking for the music track "Reminiscing ~ The DL-6 Incident", like the one on the Objection! page? Bluebully (talk) 00:26, November 21, 2017 (UTC)

Character infobox links

Do you think we can remove the View / Talk / Feedback links from character infoboxes by now? Bluebully (talk) 11:50, November 22, 2017 (UTC)

I don't think they should be removed, honestly. There's sort of a standard in wiki infoboxes to put links to View/Talk/Edit; I just put "feedback" in there because I figured it would be more helpful. capefeather (talk) 19:23, November 22, 2017 (UTC)
In that case, could we at least shorten them to just the initials (V / T / F), like Wikipedia does with their NavBoxes, so they don't take up too much space? Sorry to bug you with this, but those links look kind of ugly to me. Bluebully (talk) 11:37, December 22, 2017 (UTC)

Anime page title and top navigation

When you moved the anime page to Ace Attorney (anime), you forgot to change the link in MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation, which means that the top navigation now links to the redirect. (In addition, the link to the musical in that section should instead be to Category:Musicals, as multiple musicals now exist.) bwburke94 (talk) 00:03, November 29, 2017 (UTC)

The edit on the Turnabout Succession page was not a joke, but never mind.

two issues with the "Breakdown" page

I don't know how to mess with images but I do know that

1. In the sprite gallery for PW:AA, an unused animation for Yanni Yogi where he drops the goofy facade for a few moments is shown. It is my belief that that animation belongs on the "Damage" page, as it is much closer to a shocked animation.

2. In the sprite gallery for Justice For All, Phoenix's "In despair" sprite is shown. I'm not sure that that should count as a breakdown, but if it should stay on the page, it should be somewhere else on the page.

However, I think you should promote someone else to Admin alongside you.

Your Talk page is very crowded, but if that workload were spread across two or even three people, I think this wiki would benefit.

Hi Capefeather; I'm Amanda with FANDOM's community development team! I'm reaching out to you to see if you are interested in turning on Discussions.

In case you are unaware of the feature, Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly, and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. You can read more about Discussions here.

For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.

If you have some concerns, Discussions and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.

Let me know what you think, and if you want to proceed I can get the ball rolling.Witnessme (talk) 14:28, March 19, 2018 (UTC)

Cape, what do you think of changing the wiki's favicon? I'm not really sure the judge's face is a very interesting representation of the series. Just a thought. Bluebully (talk) 21:10, April 28, 2018 (UTC)

Personally I'm open to changing whatever, at least if there is something to change to. capefeather (talk) 21:44, April 28, 2018 (UTC)
Well, as far as suggestions go, I would recommend either the DD attorney's badge (without the background) or this Magatama. Bluebully (talk) 22:33, April 28, 2018 (UTC)
If this is still accurate then favicons have to be 16x16 images. With the current favicon and the previous Edgeworth favicon, it was convenient to crop a sprite from the AAI games because there wouldn't have to be any sort of size reduction causing problems. I've also been rather iffy on using the attorney's badge because it's already used by Court Records. Do you think it would be a good idea to take this to a more general discussion area like the forums or that new discussions feature? capefeather (talk) 23:44, April 28, 2018 (UTC)
I'd be fine with starting a forum thread or discussion about this. (In fact, I've been curious as to how this new discussion feature works.) As for CR, I believe they use the trilogy badge, which looks different enough that there shouldn't be any confusion. But if there is, we can always use the Magatama instead. Yanni Yogi

While I disagree with your appraisal of the "Yanni Yogi = Yami Yugi" trivia (especially considering that this was the first localized Ace Attorney game, meaning that subtlety in naming probably wasn't a strong point yet), I'm grateful that you at least treated the other trivia by the same standards. I can only hope you eventually establish the same standards for the trivia sections in other names used in the Ace Attorney games. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 01:44, June 1, 2018 (UTC)

Why is the wiki background still the Bombed Courtroom from Dual Destinies? Couldn't we make it the High Court of Khura'in, as seen here? Raymond1922 (talk) 17:34, October 25, 2018 (UTC)

I think Spirit of Justice is old enough that the High Court of Khura'in would have the same problem of feeling dated. Anyway, no one really got around to submitting a replacement image. These images generally have to be pretty big at least vertically (so they actually cover the page on typical screen sizes) while still remaining small in terms of data (300 KB limit). Or I guess a single smaller image could be tiled. capefeather (talk) 23:55, October 25, 2018 (UTC)

Help needed

So I've been working on switching the AAI2 for most of the day today, it's been going well, but I hit two little hiccups that need administrator assistance. Jeffery Master needs to be redirected to Jeffrey Master (slip-up on my part on that one, but it probably wouldn't have let me move it anyways), and Big Tower needs to be redirected to Grand Tower. Both won't let me redirect and it says that I need to get an administrator to help me with the move when I try. Thanks in advance! Aeliren (talk) 03:16, December 1, 2018 (UTC)

How to approach the upcoming anime-exclusive case

The Ace Attorney anime is having an original trial case coming up called Northward, Turnabout Express, and a trial in the series should naturally have its own article. The only problem is, because it's going to be split up into multiple episodes, and because we already have individual articles for those episodes, I don't know to represent this case using the trial case article format. For the manga, which is nothing but original cases spread across multiple chapters, each case's article follows the format by compiling all of the chapters into one. The only solution I can think of is that we make the anime episode articles and one big article for the overall case, similar to how other wiki for manga and anime use articles for story arcs and individual chapters/episodes. What do you think? SubZeroSilver (talk) 16:36, December 5, 2018 (UTC)

I don't see why not. In fact I've proposed doing that to game episodes on Forum:Episodes, cases, incidents. I don't know if that will actually happen, though. capefeather (talk) 22:12, December 5, 2018 (UTC)

About the Culprits category...

Should we split it into smaller categories based on what crime they committed?

eg; Frank Sahwit in Murderers, Shih-na in Thieves ect.

(seNs (talk) 06:50, December 14, 2018 (UTC)

The reason Shih-na is in the category to begin with is her murders, though. capefeather (talk) 00:16, December 15, 2018 (UTC)

Oh, I didn’t read much into it...

seNs (talk) 06:04, December 15, 2018 (UTC)

Hello please check this

It's no "confusing" reason. When you play Russian Fan Transalte, your hand want to do facepalm, because it's not translate and even not a localization. Merely, it's just a "Abridged version" with idiotic names and poor logic in some moments.

Should the pages been protected from Guest users?

I noticed the pages are unprotected and thus can be edit by anyone without using a account. Shouldn't the pages been protected from being vandalized by anonymous users in the event it happens? It may not happen now, but it can happen later on in the future. Yamato98 (talk) 15:45, April 19, 2019 (UTC)

It has happened lots of times, even from people who do make accounts. I don't think it's a big deal most of the time, at least not to the point that preventing it outweighs the harm of preventing legitimate users from editing. capefeather (talk) 17:39, April 20, 2019 (UTC)

Gunk Formatting and on resolving it

I want to apologise for the weird grammatical errors that happened on the Pheonix Wright page. It's a bit strange why I wrote such things yesterday, and I thank you for going through the trouble for fixing them.

Anyway, I would like to ask the advice on some issues of the "gunk formatting". I am quite new to writing wiki articles; however, it wasn't the first time I have encountered such a thing in writing. It's happened quite a lot of times during my time with the last fandom wiki, and now it's happening again in editing articles for this wiki. If you don't know what I mean, here's an example.

(span style="font-size:1.125rem;letter-spacing:0px;"> </span)

Hm, I'm not sure how these come about; usually, there's a whole lot bunch of these, I have to look everywhere and squash them to pieces. They come at random too since my latest edits weren't affected. Can you tell me on these things and how do I stop them from appearing? It's would drastically improve my time working on wiki articles and not suffer the embarrassment of having them on my back.

BluesEcho(talk) 9:33, April 29, 2019 (UTC)
No worries! I've seen similar stuff happen with other users but never really figured out why it would. Which editor do you use? I've long suspected that people using the visual editor sometimes end up inserting weird formatting by accident. capefeather (talk) 23:24, April 29, 2019 (UTC)

Yeah I suppose I should pay more attention to the upload log. As for giving more people admin status, that might have made sense some time in the past, but given how stagnant the place has gotten (no original games from the subject series in three years will do that), I'm not sure it would accomplish much at this point in time. capefeather (talk) 01:33, May 10, 2019 (UTC)

I don't see the big deal, really. One image was up for when people in the western hemisphere are generally asleep, and when a lot of the easter hemisphere is at work/school. It's not a busy chatroom or anything. The Megami Tensei Wiki had the same complaints from the same people about the same spammer as a while ago, and they have four admins. Admittedly, there are a lot of things I do feel badly about concerning the wiki's role in the wider AA community and whether it's fulfilling that role as well as it should, but that has nothing to do with admin activities. I do also sometimes feel like I should have brought on some more admins in the past, because I had been slow on dealing with things that needed to be deleted, as well as because admins are seen as "community leaders" even if that's not what they signed up for necessarily. capefeather (talk) 02:44, June 15, 2019 (UTC)
No matter about the complaints, those same people also reported the account who done that and I assume the Megami Tensei Wiki's admin block the said spammer or give them a warning depending on how severe it is in question. I don't get why you are using other wikias as a example. These are rules taken in place by Fandom and even the community has certain guidelines. If you don't know about the Term of Use by Fandom, then I will advise you read it as there are certain things that does violate their Term of Use and thus they will enforce a ban on the offender if they done it repeatingly. It is sorta ill advised to do anything to violate that Term of Use. You just need some people for moderating roles while you are gone. In a wikia called VS Battle WIkia, they have a lot of active admins who done their job and even has strict rules and guidelines to follow. Also it does have to do with admin activities so you are monitoring them while having the time to do so. Yamato98 (talk) 11:48, June 16, 2019 (UTC)

RU interwikis, etc.

Hello! I'm Mapmaker Lich (simply Lich, if you want), member of RU FANDOM Squadron and I'm currently working on RU AA Wiki. So, can you provide us a little help with adding interwikis? Лич, Мастер Лора (обс.) MapmakerLich#7312 19:31, May 14, 2019 (UTC)

Deduced Birthday ranges

You told me to look at the Timeline to how the wiki handles dating, but I used the Timeline to "deduce" when these characters birthdays were, as did the person in my reference on the Phoenix page. Since they were listed as "Deduced Birthday Range"s I didn't think this would be a problem. I mean the Phoenix one is somewhat understandable, that is a pretty big blip in the math, but you bringing up SoJ only narrows Miles' Birthday range to somewhere in May at the least. Hi, so for evidence that's swapped in and out of multiple episodes and shares its name with other evidence, what identifier should I use? I'm referring to the pieces of evidence in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney that appear in The Final Witch Trial, The Last Inquisitor, and The First Story. ToThAc (talk) 10:17, July 30, 2019 (UTC)

I guess you might have to use "(Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney)". capefeather (talk) 00:42, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
That actually won't work at all, as one of the pieces of evidence in said trial is known as "Case Outline" when there are already two pieces of evidence known as "Case Outline" in said game. Would something like "(The Final Witch Trial / The Last Inquisitor / The First Story)" work instead? Sure, it's a tad unwieldy, but it's the only suggestion I can think of that works. ToThAc (talk) 02:38, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
The front slash is a special character in page titles. Commas, maybe? capefeather (talk) 19:18, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
That would work for me. ToThAc (talk) 19:36, July 31, 2019 (UTC)

Hello! I will look into your module and will get back to you. --awyman13FandomStaff.png (Talk/Work) 06:17, September 14, 2019 (UTC)

I asked Flanqer to take a look. Are you still experiencing issues? --awyman13FandomStaff.png (Talk/Work) 02:33, September 15, 2019 (UTC)
Flanquer edited the module so that it works. I think I get what was wrong, with the help of this thing I found recently. capefeather (talk) 02:41, September 15, 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Cape; I know I've been gone for a while (sorry), there's something I wanted to ask. It's not urgent or anything, so just answer whenever you have time.

I (and some other users) have been working on adding navigation boxes to the bottom of evidence and location articles (for an example, see Passport), and I'm wondering if you think it's worth it to add similar boxes to the character articles (here's an example of what one might look like. The pages would have one for each game that the character appears in). Bluebully (talk) 15:33, October 23, 2019 (UTC)

I don't see why not. capefeather (talk) 15:59, October 28, 2019 (UTC)

Hi.  There's a guy called "BaeOnBoard" who keeps changing the quote on the Trucy Wright page to something about ugly people killing themselves, can you ban them or something? TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 16:24, November 14, 2019 (UTC)

Now there's another one...  Jeffthefourth. I suspect it's the same guy. TheBlackDemon1996 (talk) 16:39, November 14, 2019 (UTC)

Confusion over new pages

I know its not really my business, especially since I am barely on this sight. But just for clarifications sake, (especially since I'm not finding a lead up to this), is there a particular reason why we now have pages for investigation and trial segments. Franzyfan1998 (talk) 05:15, December 18, 2019 (UTC)

It's definitely your business and I'm sorry that it wasn't in a place where you could find it. It really should have been mentioned on the news feed, but the discussion about this stuff happened on Forum:Episodes, cases, incidents. I can understand not seeing the point of it for the cases it's been implemented on so far, but my hope is that it will make more sense when applied to stuff like Turnabout Succession and especially Turnabout for Tomorrow. capefeather (talk) 17:52, December 18, 2019 (UTC)
