A wiretap is a concealed device connected to a telephone or other communications system that allows a third party to listen in on or record conversations. One such device was covertly installed in Mia Fey's office phone prior to her murder.
Role in the Mia Fey murder investigation[]

Prior to Mia's murder, Redd White had the wiretap installed on Mia's phone. He then put the receiving end in the hotel room he and his secretary April May were staying in.
During his investigation into Mia Fey's murder, Phoenix Wright discovered it in a drawer in April May's hotel room. When May later testified in court, Wright presented the wiretap to prove that the only reason she had known that The Thinker statue in Fey's office was a clock was because she had tapped Fey's phone call with her younger sister.
